IT'S been two years since he won it, but as circumstances have it, local trainer Shaun Adams will aim for consecutive Oaks wins today.
Adams captured the 2023 South Australia Trotters' Oaks with Bullion Girl, with the feature cancelled last season.
As such, Adams is the defending champion and will attempt to go back-to-back in the Blue Riband, this time with Trixie.
"It's a bit of a gap since I won it, but back-to-back would be nice," Adams said. "Hopefully luck will go our way today and we'll get on the board again."
Poised to make her debut for Adams, Trixie won in Cranbourne a fortnight ago before arriving in Adelaide.
To be driven by Adams, the daughter of Trixton has drawn barrier three over 2230 metres, with odds-on favourite, Sassy Galleon, to begin from gate two for Victorian horseman Chris Lang junior.
"She trialled a couple of times with Anthony (Butt) and went nice without doing anything special and then won before coming here," Adams said.
"I would've liked to have had her here earlier, but everything is fine. She's a very nice natured, relaxed filly and has settled in well.
"Chris' filly is going to be extremely hard to beat to the point I'm not sure how close the rest of us will get to her.
"But well be doing our best and we'll see how it goes."
