Four-year-old mare Lets Go Lucylou will be out to continue her winning ways when she lines up in the Tasmanian Horse Transport Pace (2090m) in Hobart on Friday night.

The Paul Ashwood-trained mare is building up an impressive record, winning six of her 10 starts, with her most recent win coming in Hobart on 2 February.

On that occasion, the daughter of Sweet Lou was able to lead and dictate affairs to win in a mile rate of 2:02.3s before dashing home in a slick 56.2s.

The form out of the race has been strengthened by second-placegetter Windy Hanover winning at his next start.

Lets Go Lucylou is the only winner that has been produced by Group 3 winning mare Nola Mayhem.

Ashwood has booked in-form driver Jordan Chibnall for the race on Friday, with Chibnall having driven the mare six times for three wins.

Chibnall, this season, is driving at a 45% strike rate of her drives finishing in the top three placings, with the Paul Ashwood stable this season having a record of three wins and two placings from eight starters.

Friday’s eight-race Hobart card will be shown on Sky Racing 2 from 17:40.

There is plenty of notable harness racing happening interstate this weekend, including Friday night’s Group 2 Newcastle Mile, where the Michael Maxfield-owned Max Delight aims to win his way into the $1,000,000 Miracle Mile next month at Menangle.

The Bettors Delight gelding won at Menangle last Saturday night in a personal best winning mile rate of 1:48.8s.

Other horses with a Tasmanian link that could be potential Miracle Mile contenders include Kosimo, who won last week at Menangle in 1:51.2s, and Nyack, who broke 1:50.0s when winning in his past two starts.

It’s also great to see Fighter Command racing again this weekend.

The Tasmanian-bred pacer hasn’t been seen at the races since his Beautide win in Hobart last August, earning a place in the $2,100,000 Eureka, from which he was subsequently scratched after undergoing surgery for a twisted intestine.

He remains eligible to contest the Beautide again in August.
