Huntsville the leading son of Somebeachsomewhere, was a $1.8 million-dollar earner who not only boasts an impressive race record, but also a breeders dream when it comes to mare matching. His dam Wild West Show is by Western Hanover out of the Artsplace mare Sweet On Art, combining two of the most influential sire lines in modern history.

Huntsville is the sire of only one racing-age crop in Australia, currently boasting an astonishing 90% winners-to-starters ratio. Huntsville has sired 85 individual winners from 94 individual starters, and his one racing-age crop has banked over $4.5 million in earnings thus far in Australia.

Huntsville started his siring career off strong Down Under being crowned the 2022 Leading First Crop Sire. The remarkably high winners-to-starters ratio not only highlights Huntsville’s prowess but also sets a promising outlook for his future crops to come. Huntsville’s one racing-age crop in Australia are currently five-year-olds.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Huntsville's progeny have earnt a staggering $13 million dollars in 2024 alone, with his two and three-year-olds earning over $7.6 million. Huntsville is ranked #2 in the two-year-old money earnings in 2024, just behind Captaintreacherous. He also sired the fastest pacer for the 2024 season, Legendary Hanover, who was also the Meadowlands Pace winner.

We were fortunate enough to be able to secure a Down Under deal to bring Huntsville back to Australian breeders in 2022 via frozen semen. This move has proved a successful one with breeders backing the son of Somebeachsomewhere, with his next crop of yearlings being available to buyers at this year's yearling sales.

And what a great return to the sales ring Huntsville has achieved. Last Sunday at the Australian Pacing Gold (APG) Ipswich yearling sale, Huntsville secured the highly sought after title of the highest priced yearling to go through the ring.

Bred by Daniel Cordina, The Huntsville colt, Lot 125 is the first foal out of the Western Terror mare, Petite Paree. A half sister to grand circuit champion and a former stallion at Cobbitty Equine Farm, Lochinvar Art (1.48.6, $1.6mil) who won the Victoria Cup, the Chariots of Fire and Vic Bonanza – and was second in the Miracle Mile before concluding his racing career in the US.

Additionally, the second highest-priced filly at the sale was also sired by Huntsville. Lot 135 was an exceptional filly, bred by John Mulcrone, and is out of the Real Desire mare, Secret Desire - who was a Group One-winning mare herself. This filly truly stood out, with the added advantage of being qualified for numerous prize money opportunities and bonuses, including QBRED, NSW Breeders Challenge, Cobbitty Equine Classic, Bathurst Gold Crown, and the APG Race Series.

Both lots were born, raised and prepared by Burwood Stud. It was a credit to the team as both yearlings looked outstanding.

Looking forward, Huntsville's progeny is expected to continue making waves in the racing circuit for years to come. The excitement surrounding these yearlings is noticeable, with industry experts predicting a bright future for both the colts and fillies alike, with many breeders unable to differentiate between the two.

As the yearling sales continue, the anticipation grows for the next crop of Huntsville's to come through the ring - it's a thrilling time for all involved.
