It’s Devonport Pacing Cup night on Saturday in Launceston. The $40,000 feature is the headline on a packed 10-race card.

Mark Yole provides his thoughts on his drives, which appear to include some great winning chances:

Race 1 – Southern Luck:

Intriguing race here for the first of the night. This horse has shown glimpses of ability but is up in class now. We draw wide, but I think the small field helps his chances. While I won’t have the gate speed early, I would be hoping for a solid tempo to give me my best chance to finish off well. I’d be hoping to settle either one out and one back or one out two back.

Race 4 – Beat Sweet: **Best Of The Night**

Lightly raced mare that is coming into this with a month between runs. She was a winner of the Vicbred homegrown series at Melton last start, where she sat behind the leader and took full advantage of the passing lane to record a very nice win. I will be pushing forward early attempting to lead and from there she will take plenty of catching.

Race 5 – Tough Shaz:

Victorian visitor, she brings great form over with her. A last-start winner at Melton, where she sat outside the leader doing it tough and proved too strong for her opposition. She gets a handy draw here to push forward and attempt to lead but if unable too she has shown she can sit outside them and be very hard to beat.

Race 7 – Eureka Jo:

Returning from a spell is this mare, she comes off a strong three-year-old season culminating in a heat win of the breeders crown. She also ran fifth in the Victoria Oaks behind some exceptional fillies in Kiss and Coastal Babe. That is very strong formlines to bring here. From the draw and over the short trip, I imagine I will be coming out of the gate to find a forward position, and she should also be a great chance.
