Bunbury Trotting Club is gearing up for the biggest night on the calendar, with New Years Eve set to be huge at Donaldson Park.

Some might suggest that the Melbourne Cup is the race that stops the nation, but Luigi Vs Mario could quite possibly take that title on December 31, with preparation for the match race underway, with a couple of WA’s poster boys, Cody Wallrodt and Jack Justins, suiting up and going head-to-head in the spectacular.

The banter has begun, and Mario and Luigi are taking the assignment very seriously.

“Well, I know we’re taking extremely different approaches to the event.

“Luigi just bludged all day long and I’m out here putting the hard yards in.” said a very confident Mario (Jack Justins).

Luigi has a few tricks up his sleeve, and he wasn’t shy about his advantages.

“Luigi may be seen as the sidekick to Mario, but on New Years Eve all that will be put to bed when I wipe the floor with him.

“I’ve got a slight weight advantage which will give me a clear edge.

“I’ll sneak a few bananas in my overalls, so you could say confidence is high.” Luigi (Cody Wallrodt) told Racing WA.

Racing WA’s stewards will be on high alert to make sure the Red Shell doesn’t make an appearance throughout the race, with integrity the highest of concern on the night.

It doesn’t stop there, with plenty of entertainment on offer on the night, and Bunbury Trotting Club’s President, Chris Wall is looking forward to the New Years Eve program.

“We have so many great things at our Neon Family New Years Eve event.

“With so many free activities for families, there is a big variety of entertainment to cater for everyone.

“We are hopeful we can get a great turnout on the night and show everyone what we have to offer at Bunbury.”

Affordable for families, entry for New Years Eve, the club is offering Adults - $10 | Concession - $7 | Children Under 16 - $5 | Family (Max 2 Adults and 4 Kids) - $30.

With plenty of horsepower on the track, there’s even more entertainment on offer off the track with the whole family catered for.
