Hobart and Launceston were the two venues for Tasmanian harness racing last weekend, where several participants recorded doubles.
The Tasbred flag was again flown in New York after the win of Ignatius at Yonkers on Sunday morning in a time of 1m 52.6s for the mile trip.
We return to Hobart for the sole harness meeting this weekend with a 10-race card, plus there is plenty of local interest at Melton and Menangle on Saturday night.
The Stars
Villacci – took his record to two wins from three starts since arriving in Tasmania, with his most recent win being a last stride victory in a rating 65 to 79 event on Sunday, running a mile rate of 1m 55.7s for the 1680m event and was one of two winners on the night for Ben and Mark Yole.
Steven Davis – trained a double on the Launceston card. Major Davvin recorded his 13th career win in the Trainers Encouragement Pace, with Steve’s son Brodie in the sulky. Steve then drove Serengeti Sunrise to victory in the final race of the night, which was the gelding’s fourth win of the season.
Iden Lady Lincoln – the Kristy Butler-trained filly, was rewarded for her recent consistency when recording her second win of the season. The daughter of Lincoln Royal has not missed a place in six starts this season.
Laid Back– remains undefeated after two career starts, after coming from last at the 800m to score in the two-year-old event. The win was the 600th success for driver John Walters since computer records began in the late 80’s.
Bonny My Boy – The former Queensland pacer who won by 36.3m at Redcliffe in late August put together wins at both Hobart and Launceston meetings last weekend.
