In-form trainers and pacers dominated the sole Tasmanian meeting of the week in Hobart last weekend, which featured the Sweepstakes Finals.

We return to two meetings this weekend, with the Tasmanian Trotting Club hosting the Friday night program and Sunday night racing in Launceston.

The Stars

Todd Rattray – dominated the Hobart harness card, preparing four of the 10 winners. His highlights included winning the Sweepstakes Fillies Final with Swiatek Leis and recording his 800th driving win with Magic Joe earlier in the night.

Hazewillrev – outstayed his rivals when scoring in the Colts and Geldings Sweepstakes Final. The Craig Hayes-trained and driven gelding raced first over before remaining undefeated after his fourth race track appearance.

Jimmy The Irishman– took out the feature fast-class race of the Hobart program, the Metropolitan Cup. The Rohan Hillier-trained and driven gelding sat in the back half of the field, before facing the breeze for the final half-mile.

Ben Yole – a two-state treble on Sunday at Kilmore and Hobart saw him become the first Tasmanian to pass 1,800 career training wins.
