Poster Boy, the exceptionally handsome son of Somebeachsomewhere has all the credentials to become a successful stallion and after three seasons of breeding in excess of 125 mares in Australia each season, his day of judgement is closing in.

In 2023 his first crop of Yearlings will be offered at Sales around Australia, commencing on Sun 22nd January at the APG Sale on the Gold Coast.

The very first Poster Boy yearling to walk through an Auction ring is;

       Lot 18  -  a Colt from the Grinfromeartoear mare Teamenup.

This big strong lad was bred by Queensland participants Trevor and Louise O’Reilly and has been expertly reared and prepared by the team at Burwood Stud.

“He is a tall yearling around 15.1 hands, very athletic and with a nice temperament.” said Burwood principal Noel Denning.

The Colt is a three-quarter brother to the nice filly Awholelotofpretty 1.57.6  $41,658 , whilst the Dam is a half-sister to seven winners including the 2022 Qld Triad 2-year-old winner For Real Life 1.55.2.

He also has a 3 X 3 cross to the mighty Artsplace and this is a formula that is rapidly appearing in Group One winners in Australia.  Current stars of the racetrack such as Expensive Ego , Spirit of St Louis, Jewel Melody and the 2022 Derby and Oaks winners in WA, Tricky Miki and Taking The Miki, are all examples of horses with double doses of Artsplace blood.

Poster Boy was retired perfectly sound in July 2020 following the decision to abandon the 2020 Inter Dominion Series at Menangle later that year.

He has a race record and pedigree that would place him in the top echelon of horses, whether in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere.

A Race record of 30 starts for 22 wins and 7 placings including five wins at Group One level and a third placing in the 2019 Miracle Mile tells a story that compares with the Elite anywhere in the world.

In fact, is very similar to the race record of the “White Hot “stallion at the moment, Captaintreacherous who retired with a 33 start, 23 win, 7 placings resume.

The similarities don’t end there either as both Poster Boy and Captaintreacherous are sons of Somebeachsomewhere from American bred daughters of Artsplace.   One could argue strongly that Aston Villa, the dam of Poster Boy, has a much better production record than Worldly Beauty, the dam of Captaintreacherous.

This might just be the best year to buy yourself a Poster Boy yearling as once the hopples go on and they see a racetrack the price range could escalate rapidly.

So the Magic Millions Complex at the Gold Coast on Sunday 22nd January will be a good place to start shopping …….  And put Lot 18 on that shopping list.

The 2023 Neds – Gold Coast Sale on January 22, promises to be the “must attend harness event for 2023”.

APG will have online and telephone bidding options available if you are unable to attend.

Please contact Stephanie Graham on 0477 160 499 to answer any questions that you may have regarding catalogues, travel and accommodation needs.  Paul Ellis on 0412 377 312 or Trevor O’Reilly on 0408 714 624 are also available for all other questions that you may have.
