The Tasmanian Trotting Club and Tasracing have altered the format of the 2- year-old sweepstakes for 2022 to ensure the ongoing future of the series and to continue to give 2 year old racing opportunities to owners.
The series will include a final for both Colts and Fillies, with prizemoney guaranteed at $15,000 as per Tasracing Stake Level. Additional stake money will be added to the finals dependant on the number of nominations received.
There will be heats scheduled for both sexes to be conducted in August/September 2022. The heats will be run over separate weekends in the 4 weeks prior to the final.
For example, Heat 1 for fillies August 7th 2022. Heat 1 for colts and geldings August 7th 2022. Heat 2 for fillies 21st August 2022. Heat 2 for colts and geldings 21st August 2022. Finals for both divisions September 4th 2022. (Dates are indicative only and are subject to 2022/23 race dates being confirmed by Tasracing).
Heats will be conducted as per ORI heats and finals conditions.
The Finals will be conducted in September 2022. All horses must compete in the heats, or qualification race to be eligible for the final.
NOMINATION FEE FOR THE SERIES IS A ONE OFF PAYMENT OF $250.00
NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2022 SERIES CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT 26th JANUARY 2022. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSION TO THIS DATE AND NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Two 2YO sweepstakes finals races, one for fillies and the other for colts and geldings, to be scheduled at Hobart in September 2022.
- The stake money for each will be a minimum $15,000.
- Heats will be run for both divisions in August 2022 for sweepstakes eligible horses. Heats will be random barrier draw.
- Finals will be conducted in September 2022. Horses must have competed in the heats or qualification race to be eligible for the final. Barrier draw for the final will be random barrier draw.
- Conditions may be altered by the committee of the Tasmanian Trotting Club and Tasracing as required.
