TOP Bathurst horseman Steve Turnbull has a strong team aimed at tonight’s Breeders Challenge heats in Parkes.

The premiership-winning trainer has six horses engaged in the two qualifiers, starting with a two-pronged attack in the fillies heat (race five).

Turnbull will drive two-time winner Pas De Cheval while his son Mitch will drive his other filly Steph. In the colts and geldings qualifier (race six), Turnbull will drive the promising Allstarzzz Frankie.

The two-year-old has won three of his seven starts. Turnbull’s other starters are last start winner Baxter Red, Bettor Keppel and Saint Veran.

Turnbull’s children Mitch, Amanda and Nathan will take the drives on those pacers.

Trainer Bernie Hewitt also has six horses nominated across the two heats.

Hewitt had a memorable night at Bathurst on Wednesday winning four races.

Both Turnbull and Hewitt are amongst the top 10 trainers in New South Wales.

The iForm panel has picked out the best bets for today’s New South Wales harness meetings:

Newcastle best bet

Race 3: Dragon Tattoo (9)

Could have their measure despite a tricky draw finding this easier than recent assignments.

Newcastle next best

Race 2: Better Than Carmer (7)

Makes his presence felt in a tough race with stronger form than it appears.

Around the tracks

Wagga best bet

Race 1: The Stain (9)

A dominant winner here when he resumed and then chased a smart one last time.  Good enough to overcome the draw.

Parkes best bet

Race 6: Saint Veran (9)

Ran well when resuming and last season he had the wood on some of his main rivals in this.

Race 5: 2-9-1

Race 6: 9-5

Race 7: 10-9

Race 8:  8-5-3
