Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.

The above statement makes me think of the hard working, extremely successful couple Scott & Kathy Robertson from Gobbagombalin. A predominantly farming community in the central east part of the Riverina and a suburb of Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Scott & Kathy’s involvement in the sport has been massive from breeding and preparing some of the best turned out yearlings in the country,  to racing and at one point, the standing and the management of multiple stallions.

At the 2019-2020 NSWSO annual awards the Robertson’s 1:51.4 mare Island Banner was crowned AGED MARE OF THE YEAR.  Island Banner is a daughter to the amazing mare, Mainland Banner who’s race record is outstanding to say the least, 22-17-3-0 for $684,579 in career earnings.

Mainland Banner has also been a hit as a broodmare, her first 7 foals are listed below:

 PERUVIAN BANNER (NZ)     1:52.4MS     $99,838
 STUNIN BANNER NZ     1:56.2MS     $128,134
RETURN TO SENDER (NZ)     1:51.6MS     $218,849
 ROCKER BAND NZ     1:51.8MS     $360,354
 GLENFERRIE CLASSIC NZ     1:55.9MS     $44,575
 BUSTLING BARNEY  (retired)     1:58.4MS     $36,990
 ISLAND BANNER     1:51.4MS     $138,663

While the Robertson’s have many fine achievements of their own in Harness Racing, few people would know about the time and the lengths of care they invested into a then 3 month old Somebeachsomewhere colt out of the mare Our Sleeping Beauty.

While Scott Whitton ( another true APG champion ) was looking at yearlings at the 2020 APG Sydney Sale, Scott Robertson ran into him and let him know that their was one slightly different colt that he must buy.

Whitton took on the advice and that colt turned out to be the unbeaten Jarrod Alchin trained star,  My Ultimate Byron  that destroyed the field on the way to win the  $125,000 APG Gold Bullion colts and geldings final at Menangle in April.

When Scott was asked why he has already entered 100% of his yearlings for the 2022 Neds- APG Sydney Sale he said;  “ While It’s the only Industry Owned -Not For Profit – Sales Company,  it’s also got a breathtaking  $3M pot of gold on offer in races and bonuses, add that to the free entry ( until 16th August ), we couldn’t be prouder of our 25 year association and friendship we have built on with David and his team at Neds- APG”.

All of the Robertson’s yearlings can be made Neds- APG, NSW Challenge, Bathurst eligible. One in particular I can’t want to see,  is the much talked about Bettors Delight filly out of Super Deal.

She is a close U305 family member of:

HAVE FAITH IN ME NZ     BETTORS DELIGHT USA       1:47.5MS     $1,806,058
ADORE ME NZ     BETTORS DELIGHT USA       1:47.7MS     $1,667,029

Thanks to the amazing support of our new partner, Neds, APG has been able to put together a truly incredible sales and race series offering for 2022 and beyond that we genuinely believe represents the greatest offering in the history of harness racing.

The bottom line is that APG’s 2022 offering will see graduates compete for the most prizemoney in APG’s history, whilst vendors will face lower costs and be eligible for more benefits than ever before.

All breeders looking to sell in 2022 should  come HOME and enter their lots with our only industry owned, non for profit yearling sales company, Neds – APG.
