Lettucereason has secured the Winona Award for a third successive occasion after being named the Australian Pacing Broodmare of the Year.

The blue-chip broodmare was odds-on to claim a hattrick of victories and duly saluted after throwing three winners featuring Leap To Fame, Swayzee and unbeaten filly, Senses.

In the process, Lettucereason has become the fourth mare to win three titles alongside Maori Miss (1977, ’78, ’79), Liza Storm (1988, ’89, ’90), and Alldatglittersisgold (2013, ’14, ’20), with an unprecedented fourth title in 2026 firming by the day.

The Maori Miss Award for the Australian Trotting Broodmare of the Year was a closer affair with Watts Up Rainbow edging out Aldebaran Peggy.

Watts Up Rainbow’s progeny includes Great Southern Star winner Watts Up Partytime, along with Watts Up Raptor and Watts Up The Hill.

Similarly to the 2024 winner, Keayang Yankee, Watts Up Rainbow is descended from Maori Miss.

In the Sires’ Awards, Sweet Lou USA recorded the most stakemoney for pacers breaking the stranglehold of Bettors Delight USA, who had clinched the award for the past 13 seasons.

In the trotting ranks, Majestic Son CA recorded the most stakemoney for the 10th year in a row (2016 to 2025) and is closing in on Sundons’ run of 13 consecutive years (2003 to 2015).

Bettors Delight USA secured the Broodmare Sires with $14.1 million in stakesmoney ahead of Art Major with $13.7 million and Mach Three with $7.7 million.

For the trotters, Sundon USA and Majestic Son CA continue their stranglehold on the awards.

Sundon winning the all aged section and Majestic Son CA coming out on top in all juvenile divisions.
