Dating back to 1921, the annual Boort Cup meeting has become time-honoured and iconic with harness racing and the general public alike.
The cup itself has a rich and storied history. It’s been won by many a champion horse, trainer and driver including Grand Voyage, Main Derby and Red Bazil and in more recent times, Flaming Flutter, Motu Meteor and Keyafella.
The 2026 Cup meeting will be staged at Boort Park on Sunday, March 1.
There are five feature events programmed headed up by the $12,000 Neil Beattie Family Boort Pacing Cup and the $12,000 Hon. Peter Walsh Boort Trotting Cup and the $10,000 Central Victorian Championships for pacers and trotters.
The Trotting Championship carries a $2,000 breeding certificate for use to any stallion on the Aldebaran Park roster.
The program also includes a female driver’s race and a pony trotting event.
“There’s a trophy and a rug for every winner,” Boort Trotting Club committeeman John Campbell said.
“We are expecting to hold 10 races and attract large local community support.”
The bumper day will also feature a Fashions On The Field competition and a Pick 5 on five designated races with the lucky punter pocketing $500.
Nominations for the meeting close on Tuesday, February 24 at 12 noon.
