FORMER top youngster Viksun will attempt to resurrect her career this weekend.

Among the best of her crop as a two and three-year-old, Viksun's wins include the Group One Home Grown Classic in Melton.

Racing consistently during the next few years, the mare's form gradually tapered off, keeping her winless since November 2024.

The daughter of Fling It has undergone three stable changes during the interim, with the latest seeing her ready to make her debut for Lance Johnson at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

"To be honest I knew nothing about her when Corey came home with her in a float," Johnson said. "A fella by the name of Francis Weston bought her to race in Mildura, but he never got to give her a start.

"Apparently they were told Mildura will start having trotting races, which is why Francis bought her, but the races never eventuated.

"Francis kept working her until one night he saw Corey in Mildura and asked if he'd give her a go."

To be driven by Corey, Viksun has drawn two along the 10-metre line.

"She has been working well, but will need a couple of runs to hit her peak fitness," Johnson said. "She hasn't raced since May, so she'll definitely benefit from this outing.

"That said, we're still expecting a forward showing from her."
