Fresh off a training and driving double in Burnie last Monday week, and a further win in Launceston last Sunday, Wesley Vale’s Charlie Castles will be out to continue his winning ways in Burnie on Friday night.

Castles will take four runners from his stable to the eight-race card, and he will drive all four.

“It’s been a good couple of months, and hopefully we can keep that going,” said Castles, who has plenty of family help with the day-to-day operation.

“We have a good system, and we work well as a team, and it’s a whole family effort.”

This season, he has trained 21 winners from his 102 starters.

Always Tiger, in the opening race restricted to pacers with no more than two lifetime wins, under mobile start conditions over 2180m, is one that the trainer-driver rates as one of his best winning prospects on the card.

The three-year-old daughter of Vincent recorded her maiden win in Burnie on 13 October.

“She is a good chance again, there are a few in it that can go alright, so she, like any horse at Burnie, will need a bit of luck.

“She is still improving (only having four starts), and her last run in Launceston was a good effort. She has a bit of toe, and hopefully she can use it,” said the trainer-driver.

Another recent Burnie winner that Castles will take back to the Wivenhoe Paceway is Tullah Girl, who lines up in the 7 Tasmania Pace (2180m).

The three-year-old daughter of American Ideal has won three of her 14 starts, including a last-start win at her only standing start try on 13 October.

“Hopefully she can get away well again and be there about.

“She was unlucky (not to lead), if she had drawn inside Alberio, I reckon she would have been able to hold him out early,” the trainer-driver said.

Friday’s program is scheduled to commence at 16:54.
