Lot 95 - Very Chics offspring, the Art Major mare Elmyra

The New Zealand bred mare Very Chic was one of the best fillies in Victoria in the late 2000’s.

Trained by Peter Manning, she won a total of 19 races including the Shakamaker Classic, Ian Daff Memorial and the Princess of Wimmera and $217,166 in stakes and took a mile record of 1:56.6.

At the stud Very Chic has produced seven winners – all inside 2:00 – from seven to race including the Group 2 $50,000 NSW Breeders Challenge True Blue 2YO winner Warrawee Drinking.

The first of Very Chic’s offspring, the Art Major mare Elmyra, is among the offering at the Australian Pacing Gold Winter Mix Sale from August 17 to 19.

Lot 95 in the catalogue, Elmyra, who is consigned by veteran Ouyen breeder Max Jardine, was unbeaten in two appearances and has only one foal of racing age. She was not bred from last season.

Buyers looking for a dual purpose prospect should not go past Lot 35, the smart Western Terror mare Wonga Lake. Offered by well known Goulburn Valley identity John Hallam, Wonga Lake won eight races at the Victorian provincials before being sidelined due to injury.

She is a descendant of Hallam’s prized matron Pat Petulus, the dam of the outstanding WA pacer Allwood’s Chief and the brilliant but ill-fated Exhilarator and the ancestress of the Vicbred champion Wiperfeld, the Tontine winner Blake Bolac and the top trotter Constantinople.

Shepparton enthusiast Kerrie Lee has a single entry in Lot 94, House Hunter, a Changeover mare from one of Tasmania’s top ranking standardbred families.

A winner herself, House Haunter, a half-sister to the NSW Golden Mile winner Jimmy Locke ($293,802), has left the handy Riverina mare She Haunts Em as her second foal. Furthermore, she is a member of the same family as the Tasmanian classic winners Not John, For The Future and Nola Mayhem and the Victoria Youthful winner Quisquillas.

One of the most sought after entries will be Lot 9, a weanling half-brother to the recent $50,000 APG Melbourne Sales Graduate Series 2YO Trotting Final winner Harperseven and three other good square-gaiting winners.

Consigned by Glen Craven’s Oxley Farm, the youngster has an all-American breeding background and one which has been most successful. He’s by the Andover Hall horse Creatine out of the Cantab Hall mare Aldebaran Turnpike USA and thus a member of the same tribe as the millionaire trotter and Breeders Crown champion Sandy Bowl.

Another Victorian trained racing prospect in Top Gun Ted will go up for auction as Lot 41. Bred, part-owned and trained by Creswick horseman Gary Murnane, the Safari gelding has won seven races and been nine times placed from 50 starts to date for $43,280. He’s on a NR52 mark.

Don’t miss your opportunity to pick up these nice prospects to help round out your stables for the upcoming season! Register as a Buyer or check out the full Online Catalogue today.
