A fusion of all ages family fun and live trackside entertainment by Australian rock royalty will officially launch Season 3 of the Harness Racing New South Wales TAB Carnival of Cups at Wagga’s Riverina Paceway.
More than 5000 racegoers are expected to be in the house as the legendary Ian Moss of Cold Chisel fame headlines the music and racing bonanza at the Riverina’s premier track on Friday, 14 November.
Mossy will belt out his iconic hits such as Tucker’s Daughter and Telephone Booth and dip into the timeless Chisel catalogue for a powerhouse performance on what promises to be the biggest race night ever hosted by the Wagga Harness Racing Club.
He will be joined on the line-up by The Superjesus, who recently released their first album in 20 years and are currently selling out venues across Australia and New Zealand.
They will be supported by 1927, whose extensive array of radio-friendly hits have been heard on Australian airwaves for the past three decades. Local stars Nathan Lamont and The Mighty Yak will also perform on the program.
On the track, there will be two lucrative feature races up for grabs with the inaugural running of the $60,000 “The Bidgee” as well as the $75,000 TAB Regional Championships Riverina Final.
The TAB Regional Championships have been moved from May to the summer timeslot to align with the Carnival of Cups series and bolster an already elite racing program. The winner and runner-up of the Riverina Final will earn entry into the $150,000 TAB Regional Championships State Final at Club Menangle in April 2026.
“This has been a key strategic move by Harness Racing New South Wales in conjunction with our naming rights partner in TAB to move the Regional Championships series to run in parallel with the Carnival of Cups and showcase local excellence in front of the blockbuster crowds we have been attracting,” HRNSW Chief Executive Peter Buckman said.
“We are incredibly excited about bringing the Carnival of Cups series to Wagga. It has been a genuine success story for the industry and it is part of our commitment to give back to communities that support us by providing them with these major free events.”
“There is something for everyone at Carnival of Cups and best of all it’s safe, secure and free to attend. Apart from the elite racing on the track there’s food, drinks, rides and entertainment for the kids and then there’s the music. Mossy, The Superjesus and 1927 all for free. How good is that!”
Wagga will be the starting point for the third season of the Carnival of Cups series, with the TAB Regional Championships finals to align with the schedule across the state.
The dates are:
- 14 November, 2025 – Wagga (including TAB Regional Championships Riverina Final)
