APG yearling sale dates are locked in for 2026 and in an exciting update from last year, their Sydney sale will return to its traditional spot during the Miracle Mile weekend in March.

The sale will be held at the Inglis Sales Complex on Sunday, March 15, the day after the $1 million Miracle Mile at Menangle.

This will give vendors the opportunity to showcase their yearlings to NSW, interstate and NZ visitors in town for the big race.

The Miracle Mile is the premier sprint race on the Australasian harness racing calendar and attracts the best pacers from Australia and NZ.

This year’s race was won by reigning Interdominion champion Don Hugo. Grand circuit champion Leap To Fame was second.

That elite field of eight horses have won more than $13 million is stakes between them.

Their Melbourne yearling sale is on February 15 and will once again align with a grand circuit feature, the AG Hunter Cup, considered one of the toughest staying tests in Australia.

This year’s AG Hunter Cup meeting at Melton hosted the (G1) $250,000 grand circuit feature for pacers won by Swayzee and the (G1) $250,000 Southern Stars final for trotters that featured superstar square-gaiters The Locomotive, Oscar Bonavena and Queen Alida (but was won by $60 outsider Watts Up Partytime in a thrilling finish).

It also had two Group 3 events – the 4YO Bonanza and the Ladyship Cup – ensuring a star-studded program from start to finish.

APG general manager Anthony Essex said the company is continuing to build on the momentum after a strong 2025 by gearing up for a big sales season next year.

“As always, our Melbourne Sale will take place at the Inglis Sales Complex on the Sunday following the Hunter Cup, ensuring it remains a key fixture in the Victorian racing calendar,” Essex said.

“Perhaps the most exciting news is that our Sydney Sale returns to its traditional timing, sharing the weekend with the Miracle Mile.

“This presents fantastic opportunities for both our vendors and buyers to have one of the biggest race events of the year coincide with one of the best yearling sales of the year.

“Where else would you want to be?

“With a strong calendar ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be a real standout season.

“We’re confident that by partnering with big events like the Miracle Mile and Hunter Cup, that these weekends will be the place to be for Australian harness racing enthusiasts.

“After a successful sale in Queensland last year, we’re thrilled to be heading back to the Ipswich Turf Club in 2026.

“It’s a great venue that delivered on all fronts in 2025 and we are looking forward to building on that for 2026.”

Young NSW vendor Emma Day, daughter of highly respected breeder Matt Day, expected the sale’s return to the Miracle Mile weekend would be a boost for vendors.

“It is really good news for breeders,” Day said. “The Miracle Mile weekend is always big.

“It normally attracts a lot of people from around Australia, so fingers crossed the sale draws a big crowd.

“I will have one yearling (in the sale) and have already had two clients say they will offer youngsters.

“I also do yearling sale prep, so we are gearing up for big sale. I am look to take on my outside clients and have made enquiries about hiring more stables in anticipation of a large draft.”

The APG sales calendar is as follows:

  • QLD – Ipswich Turf Club on February 8
  • VIC – Inglis Sales Complex, February 15 (Hunter Cup Weekend)
  • WA – Magic Millions Complex, March 1
  • NSW – Inglis Sales Complex, March 15 (Miracle Mile Weekend)
  • SA – Magic Million Complex on March 22
