RISE Racing wishes to provide a further update to the harness racing industry of the recent cybersecurity incident that temporarily disrupted access to the Harvey system.
On 12 May 2025, RISE identified a deliberate cyberattack involving unauthorised access to components of the system. Immediate response measures were enacted to contain the threat, secure the system environment, and restore essential services as quickly and safely as possible. Full operational access was reinstated shortly thereafter through controlled recovery procedures.
RISE initiated a comprehensive investigation in conjunction with its cybersecurity specialists and notified relevant authorities, including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). An independent forensic review is now underway to determine the full nature and extent of the incident.
Preliminary analysis indicates that only a limited subset of system data was potentially accessed. Importantly, there is no current evidence to suggest that core participant or transactional records were impacted. However, due to the seriousness of the event and its potential implications, RISE is maintaining a high level of vigilance and caution.
The matter has also been reported to law enforcement and appropriate government agencies. RISE is continuing to work closely with State and National harness racing jurisdictions to ensure a consistent and coordinated response.
As a precaution, all participants are encouraged to take steps to protect their digital information, including:
Being alert to unusual messages or phishing attempts
- Avoiding unknown links or attachments
- Using strong, unique passwords
- Enabling additional layers of security wherever available
- Reporting suspicious activity to their racing authority or to RISE
Should the forensic investigation confirm any compromise of personal information, affected individuals will be contacted directly and provided with appropriate support and guidance.
Cybersecurity threats are increasingly targeting organisations across all sectors. RISE Racing reaffirms its commitment to protecting the privacy and security of all participants and maintaining the integrity of harness racing services.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. For further enquiries, please contact RISE Racing at cybersecurity@riseracing.com
