On bloodlines and looks alone, Lot 14 at the late Dr. Dewar’s Estate Sale from Friday May 2, until Sunday May 4, 2025, is a stunning 2-year-old who is bound to attract a lot of buyer attention.

This un-named 2-year-old old American Ideal - Miss Worthy Whitby colt, is half-brother to the Gloucester Park Group One 2018 Sale Classic Final champion and Group Two Champagne Classic winner, Its Rock And Roll.

He is also closely related to Victorian pacing Group One-winning stars, The Storm Inside and The Lost Storm.

Foals two and three out of Miss Worthy Whitby are both winners in their own right, while the first, Ayshe Whitby, produced The Lost Storm.

Foal two, the 2015 A Rocknroll Dance brown gelding, Its Rock And Roll (1:50.4), won 31 races in his career with prize money of $558,345.

Foal three, a full-brother to Its Rock And Roll named Rocknroll Spirit (1:56.5), was a six-time winner and has banked $45,515 in stakes money.

Its Rock and Roll, who was sold to USA after winning his last race at Gloucester Park as the $1.70 favourite on January 24, 2020, was trained and driven by multiple-winning Group horseman Colin Brown at Banjup – 26km south of Perth.

Brown paid $37,500 for Its Rock And Roll at the Australian Pacing Gold Perth Sale in 2017 and was so taken by him he also bought his younger half-brother, Rocknroll Spirit, and is also contemplating make a bid on their other sibling Lot 14.

“When I saw Its Rock And Roll, I was really keen to buy him for my friends and clients, Liam O’Connor and Jim Curry. They were both by A Rocknroll Dance and were a bit temperamental early and needed time. They weren't tractable when they were young, but once they hit two, they really started to develop.

“That's why I am interested in this one (Lot 14), because he's by American Ideal and they are a lot more sensible. The American Ideals out this way seem a lot more sensible and want to race. From what I have heard they have pleased a lot of their owners. The mare herself is a half-sister to The Storm Inside, and he was a very nice pacer, and is now proving himself as a quality stallion," Brown said.

"It’s a very successful family. We sold Its Rock And Roll for $110,000 to the United States and he’s gone on to win about 30 races and from what I’ve head another $100 to $200,000 over there,” he added.

Lot 14 is from a very well-bred mare that has produced several quality foals, Miss Worth Whitby (1:59.9), who was retired to stud in 2011.

Seventeen-year-old Miss Worthy Whitby, is also herself is up for grabs in Dr Dewar’s online Sale as Lot 2. She would be an ideal buy for someone wanting to undertake embryo transfers with her.

Lot 14, is the fourth and last foal from Miss Worthy Whitby (so far) and looks destined for good things after his three older siblings have all been a success at either stud or on the racetrack.

Miss Worthy Whitby’s first foal, the 2012 Rocknroll Hanover mare, Ayshe Whitby, who is now a two-time Group One-winning broodmare was retired to stud after just one race, but that 12-year-old mare’s second and third foals have also kicked goals on the racetrack.

Ayshe Whitby will also have representation at Dr Dewar’s Online Sale. That being Lot 1, a 2017 Mr feelgood 7-year-old mare named Annika Whitby, who herself is about to embark on her breeding career.

Ayshe Whitby’s second foal, the 6-year-old Captaintreacherous gelding, The Lost Storm (1:53.2) was a pacing sensation in Victoria, winning 14 of his 25 starts and netting $367,729 in stakes money. His major wins came via the 2022 Group One Vicbred Super Series 2yo Final at Melton's Tabcorp Park; and the 2023 Group One Queensland Derby at Albion Park. He also won the 2024 Group Three City of Melton Plate and placed in the 2022 Group One Breeders Crown 2yo Final.

Miss Worthy Whitby is the first of 14 foals out of the 2003 brown Artsplace - Stormy Pursuit (Storm Damage) brown mare, Spirited Storm, who won two of her four races before being retired to the broodmare's paddock in 2006.

Spirited Storms seventh foal, the Storm Inside, won 16 of his 19 starts and $311,125 in prizemoney. In 2016 he was named the Australian 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year after nailing the Group One $320,000 APG 2yo Colts and Geldings Final at Melton. At the completion of his racing career was retired to Stud duties at Alabar Bloodstock in Victoria in January 2020.

He also triumphed in the 2015 Group Two Rod Fitzpatrick Memorial at Tabcorp Park Menangle and the 2019 Group Three Vicbred Platinum Pace at Melton.
