One of Australia’s most-loved live acts Birds of Tokyo will headline a blockbuster line-up when Harness Racing New South Wales brings its FREE Carnival of Cups series back to Albury on 14 February.

The multi-award-winning Western Australian band will be joined by timeless rockers The Superjesus and high-energy folk-rock trio Things of Stone and Wood for the trackside spectacular.

As part of HRNSW’s commitment to investing in host cities, local favourites Liam Dalby and emerging teenage group Lucey will also be joining the chart-toppers on the big stage.

It will be the first time Birds of Tokyo have performed as part of the Carnival of Cups roster although they are no strangers to harness racing fans in New South Wales.

They made a lasting impression on the industry after delivering a spectacular show at the inaugural running of The Eureka at Club Menangle last year.

It will also mark the Carnival of Cups debut for The Superjesus but it will be a return to familiar surrounds for their iconic frontwoman Sarah McLeod who was part of the Albury line-up earlier this year.

“That was such a fun show to play in front of an amazing crowd. I had Murray Sheridan - my drummer from The Superjesus – performing with me that night as well so technically half of the band has already played the Carnival of Cups so it seems only right the other boys get to come along and experience it as well,” Sarah said.

“They are such a great event to be part of and the line-up is elite. We’ve been touring with Birds of Tokyo on the Cold Chisel tour and they put on an amazing show. This is one you event you don’t want to miss!”

Sarah also played on the same bill as Things of Stone and Wood at the Carnival of Cups in Young last year. This time the Victorian quartet will be playing a little closer to home, rolling out their collection of crowd favourites – most notably the acclaimed 90’s anthem Happy Birthday Helen.

Up to 5000 people attended the Carnival of Cups meeting in Albury earlier this year and that is expected to increase considerably when it returns in 2025.

“There is no doubt the demand is there and the population catchment suggests we will get an even bigger crowd with bands like Birds of Tokyo and The Superjesus putting on free concerts for all ages,” HRNSW Marketing Manager Paul Cochrane said.

“It’s a bit of a relief to be finally making this announcement actually. Even though Albury is the fourth event on the circuit, Birds of Tokyo were the first band we signed for this season so it’s been a closely-guarded secret up until this point. But they are one of the best live acts in the country and I can’t wait to see them put on a truly memorable performance and write another chapter in the Carnival of Cups history books!”

“And it’s Valentine’s Day too so where else would you want to be to find great food and drinks, first-class music entertainment and to share in the love of this epic community event.”

Entry to the Carnival of Cups is FREE but you do need a ticket to attend. To register and secure your ticket for the event on 14 February CLICK HERE
