Tasmanian Harness Highlights – 18 November

It was an action-packed weekend where the Tasbred pacers were on show.

The two-year-olds warmed up for this week’s Prydes Easifeed Evicus and Dandy Patch with heats and a prelude in Hobart last week.

While the three and four-year-old Tasbred finals were held in Launceston on Sunday night.

The Stars

Mark Yole – drove four winners in Hobart last Friday and backed that up with another four in Launceston on Sunday, including the Group 2 6ty Bandbox on the Christian Salter-trained Iden Boutique.

Allan McDonough – claimed a Group 2 win on Longfellow for Emma Stewart in the Tasfreight Raider Stakes. He also trained and drove Blitzern (pictured) to a 24.3m win in the first heat of the Lees Orchard Tassie Golden Apple.

Rohan Hadley– prepared De Goey to a debut win in the Dandy Patch Prelude and then delivered a gem of a drive on $101 chance Looby Lombo to score in an action-packed Collins Homes Granny Smith. Hadley is eight wins away from 1000 driving wins.

Mickey Oh – made it back-to-back Tasbred final wins when leading all the way to score in the Group 2 Nutrien Ag Solutions Globe Derby to give Matthew Howlett his biggest win as a trainer and another feature race victory in the sulky.

Week Ahead

Friday: Burnie host an eight race card from 17:08, where Ben Yole has a chance to break the Australian record for the most number of wins in a 12-month season.

At Gloucester Park, Tasmanian-owned Cool Water Paddy lines up at Gloucester Park.

Melton host their first night of the Australasian Breeders Crown Finals series, where Tasmanian-owned and bred Kosimo lines up in the fifth race.

Saturday: Sees night two of the Australasian Breeders Crown Finals series at Melton, where the Ben Yole trained, Mark Yole driven My Ultimate Jacko lines up in the 2YO colts and geldings final.

Ex-pat Tasmanian’s Alex Ashwood, Juanita Breen, Josh Duggan and Jack Laugher are all represented across both meetings.

At Menangle, Izaha lines up in a conditioned race drawn outside of the front row in barrier 10.

Sunday: The Group 2 Dandy Patch and Evicus headline the 10-race card that commences at 17:06, with a live hosting on TasracingTV.

Monday: Trials in Hobart.
