Newcastle Breeders Challenge heat winner Captain Ritchie is the highest ranked two-year-old for the series heading into the semi-finals on October 15. 

The Paul Fitzpatrick-trained gelding rated 1:57.1 to win his qualifier on September 30. 

Captain Ritchie has pocketed $100,699 in stakes this debut season giving him the top position in the Breeders Challenge rankings. 

Meanwhile, Major Delight is the highest-ranking two-year-old filly after winning her qualifier at Riverina Paceway last week. 

Racing returns to Riverina Paceway and Newcastle today as well as Bathurst.
