US champion trotter On A Streak has been purchased by Australia’s Haras des Trotteurs and will stand at stud in New South Wales in the upcoming breeding season.

Haras des Trotteurs owner Pat Driscoll said he was delighted to have been able to secure to son of the great Cantab Hall.

He said the four-year-old would be an exciting addition the Australian breeding scene.

On A Streak was the 2020 Breeders Crown two-year-old male champion in a stakes record time of 1:52.4.

He will stand at Cobbitty Equine Farm as part of a new collaboration between Haras de Trotteurs and Cobbitty Equine Farm.

Classic Connection Fra – a son of Love You – will also spend his second season Downunder for Haras des Trotteurs based at Cobbitty Equine Farm, NSW, while Used To Me Fra will stand at Cobbitty Equine Farm, Queensland.

On A Streak is scheduled to arrive in Australian in October, with Driscoll planning to send many of his best mares from Yabby Dam Farms to him.

Driscoll said On A Streak would also available to New Zealand breeders.

As well as winning the $600,000 Breeders Crown as a freshman, On A Streak also won the $535,000 William Wellwood and was named Canada’s two-year-old trotting colt of the year after earning U$850,000

On A Streak was described by reinsman Bob McClure as being a professional right from the outset.

“He practically drove himself. He just kept progressing and got better and better.”

In addition to having three stallions standing at Cobbitty Equine Farm, the new collaboration between Haras des Trotteurs and Cobbitty Equine Farm features the launch of two new feature races for two-year-old trotters.

The Haras des Trotteurs-Cobbity Equine Farm Classic will showcase $75,000 finals for colts/geldings, and fillies to be run at Menangle.

To be eligible, the two-year-olds must be the result of mares being served in Australia or New Zealand this season by one of Haras des Trotteurs’ 13 roster stallions – On A Streak, and the French-bred band of Bird Parker, Bold Eagles, Brillantissime, Classic Connection, Eridan, En Solitaire, Love You, Orlando Vici, Quaker Jet, Timoko, The Best Madrik and Used To Me.

Much to the disappointment of Haras des Trotteurs, the original plan of shuttling Eridan down under will no longer happen due to an owner dispute, however Eridan will still be available as a Frozen option.

Haras des Trotteurs believe there is no better time to breed a trotter and upgrade your trotting stock.

More information eligibility and race scheduling will be available in the future.
