In-form Lietinna based trainer Wesley Targett will be hoping last start Launceston winner Wandary Muscat can reproduce her brilliant from last week again in Hobart on Friday night.
The six-year-old mare will contest the Nutrient Sprint Lane Pace, the second event on the eight-race card.
The daughter of American Ideal notched up her eighth career win in Launceston last week after being given the run of the race one-out and two-back by driver Rohan Hillier. The mare produced a lethal sprint late to pick up the leaders by 1.8 metres in a 58.8s last half mile.
“I was a bit worried that she drew too well that night, but it was a really good drive by Rohan to settle her where he did and there wasn’t much room when he slipped her out on the home corner,” said Wesley.
On Friday night driver John Walters jumps back into the sulky where they have drawn outside the second-row in the rating 45 to 52 event.
Wandary Muscat gets into the race on the maximum rating where she has opened as the $4.20 second elect behind seven start maiden De Marco Beach who has drawn the pole at $3.60.
The 2021 season could be the last we see Wandary Muscat on the racetrack.
“I am still scratching my head whether she will become a broodmare this breeding season. I like the American Ideal bloodline, so I am likely to head that way,” explained Wesley.
Wesley prepares his team out of Kent Rattray’s stables, which means Wandary Muscat will share a float ride to Hobart with in-form pacer Karalta Kruise who will be chasing a hat-trick of wins in the Tasmanian Veterinary Services Pace, a rating 55 or better standing start event.
This season’s King Island Cup winner won his 18th race in Launceston last Friday when leading all the way. The win saw the gelded son of Mcardle break the $100,000 prizemoney barrier.
Friday’s eight-race card commences at 18:30 and will be shown on TasracingTV and Sky Racing 2.
