HRA (Preliminary) Submission to Land Transport of Horses Consultation

Toward the end of February 2021, a Task Group led by the Queensland Government, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, released a Consultation Paper regarding the Land Transport of Horses.

While the consultation period was short, HRA responded with a Preliminary Submission within the tight timeframe - as there were significant concerns with many of the propositions contained within the Consultation Paper and it was considered imperative to respond despite not having an opportunity to consult as widely as would have been the case otherwise.

Both the Consultation Paper (available here) and HRA’s Preliminary Submission in response (available here), are provided here in an effort to keep the industry abreast of this important issue.

If there are any persons or organisations wishing to make comment or contribute to the discussion, they are invited to provide their views via hra@hra.com.au or write to HRA at Level 1, 400 Epsom Rd, Flemington  Vic  3031.

Depending on the responses, a further submission may be made – but in any event, all views will assist and contribute to further consultation stages, if and when they occur.

For more information, please contact Andrew Kelly on +61 3 9227 3000 or akelly@hra.com.au
