Form Analysis by Bronte Nieuwenburg

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (5) is a very well-bred, lightly raced performer from the Andy Gath stable. He has the best sectional times in this field, is progressive, and looks capable of continuing to work through his grades. NINEDOLLA TOASTIE (2) is a smart mare but resumes here for the first time since May last year. She has excellent gate speed and should map well, though she will need a comfortable run first up. RED SHORES (4) has been unlucky in his past two starts after being checked early and settling back. He profiles as the best swooper on last 800m times and if he can get forward, he will be flashing home. SEA FURY (7) is first up in Victoria for trainer Luke Tabone. He brings solid Queensland form from last year and could impress.
BACK: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (5) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (5), NINEDOLLA TOASTIE (2), RED SHORES (4), SEA FURY (7)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: FREMARKS PEGGY (2) is in career-best form with James Herbertson taking the reins. From barrier two she should be able to work into a forward position and use it to her advantage. BAR TAB (9) follows her through early and has the best swooper times in the race if saved for one run and everything goes right. MANDA KYVALLEY (7) is a last-start winner and owns the best sectional times in this field. She has confidence and ability, but faces a tricky barrier. She is the clear best-rated horse on national ratings and gains entry with Tristan Larsen’s driving claim. THE CHOOK (4) settled last and made a long-sustained eye-catching run last start to finish strongly into third.
SELECTIONS: FREMARKS PEGGY (2), MANDA KYVALLEY (7), BAR TAB (9), THE CHOOK (4)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: WRITTEN IN SILK (9) is a consistent performer who finds a drop in class here. She has finished in the top four in 10 of her past 12 starts and draws to follow through, giving her versatility and options. She looks the standout runner in this field. ILLAWONG PHOENIX (7) is a tough mare who made her own luck to win in the breeze two starts back at Kilmore. She may have to do work again from the barrier but has proven she can handle it. OUR TRUE COLOURS (5) has a great turn of foot and if she gets a smooth run, she will be flashing home late. TOTALLY STUNNING (8) is a quality mare who will need luck from the draw, but if she finds it, she is one to watch late.
BACK: WRITTEN IN SILK (9) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: WRITTEN IN SILK (9), ILLAWONG PHOENIX (7), OUR TRUE COLOURS (5), TOTALLY STUNNING (8)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: DONA AMALIA (8) clearly looks the best runner in this field. She has a powerful motor when she puts it all together. James Herbertson takes the drive for the first time. She will need luck from the barrier. ATABOY CHARLIE (5) is ultra-consistent, finishing in the top three in 10 of his past 11 starts. He often avoids mobile races but is back behind the barrier here which may be something to note. If he gets into a good position, he’s one to keep an eye on here. COURAGES LAW (11) has ability but his manners can let him down. If he trots throughout and overcomes the wide draw, he is not out of it. FLING IT RAINBOW (3) is a good performer when able to get forward and should find a suitable position with his gate speed.
BACK: DONA AMALIA (8) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: DONA AMALIA (8), ATABOY CHARLIE (5), COURAGES LAW (11), FLING IT RAINBOW (3)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: MIDNIGHT MOJO (11) is in career-best form, putting together a strong sequence of performances including two recent wins. She will need to make a long run from the barrier but has shown recently she is capable of doing that. IMA TIGGY TIGER (10) can be risky with her manners but has ability on her day. Top driver James Herbertson taking the reins for the first time. DOUBLE THE HUNTER (6) is an experienced horse who can make his own luck. The barrier is awkward, though he does possess some gate speed. MAXBECA (7) raced well last start when Leigh Sutton took the reins for the first time. He appears to have clicked with Sutton, who drives again, and although the barrier is tricky, so are those of her main rivals.
SELECTIONS: MIDNIGHT MOJO (11), IMA TIGGY TIGER (10), DOUBLE THE HUNTER (6), MAXBECA (7)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: CLAUDYS HERO (7) is a high-quality trotter who raced the best of his age group throughout 2024 and 2025. He is maturing and should continue to improve with age. Second up here after a solid first-up second, he is right in this if he trots throughout. ABBIE (1) has been racing very well this campaign and should take advantage of a fence run from barrier one. She is the sister and stablemate of star trotter Im Bobby and continues to improve despite being an eight-year-old. JACK SPRAT (9) worked forward to find the front and won well last start, looking strong to the line and bringing winning confidence into this. KEAYANG GYPSY (4) is a very smart mare and was the horse that beat Claudys Hero first up. She did it tough there, though her manners remain the concern in a competitive race
BACK: CLAUDYS HERO (7) – 1 unit (win)
SELECTIONS: CLAUDYS HERO (7), ABBIE (1), JACK SPRAT (9), KEAYANG GYPSY (4)
