Shepparton, Tuesday 21 October

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: REASON TO PARTY (7) ran a big race when a close second behind Direct Command at his Victorian debut. He parked on the outside of the leader throughout, kicked away on the home turn and was grabbed on the line so he is capable of going one better here. BYRNESIDE BOOM (11) was driven aggressively and produced a top performance to score at Bendigo on Wednesday night. This race is of similar standard and he is worth thought again. LUVERBOY (1) has struck peak form with two wins and a second out of his past three attempts. He worked forward to find the lead at his latest victory and is drawn to be prominent throughout. ALL ITTOOK (2) ran home well from midfield when second behind Iamawingate at Shepparton last outing. She recorded a mile rate of 1.56.5 when she scored at Shepparton in July and is worth an investment.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,4,5,7

SELECTIONS: REASON TO PARTY (7), BYRNESIDE BOOM (11), LUVERBOY (1), ALL ITTOOK (2)

RATINGS: 7/ 11/ 1/ 2/ 5,6

SUGGESTED BET: REASON TO PARTY (7) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: ROCKET ME (8) ran a game race for second at his first run for trainer Mick Carbone and is capable of going one better despite the awkward draw. LOCHINVAR CHARM (9) finished off well from midfield when second behind Interpretation at Bendigo last week. She has the perfect trailing draw and should be finishing off well again. ROLL THE ACES (10) is a New South Wales trained pacer, which won at Albury in August. He strikes a suitable assignment and should be competitive despite the awkward draw. LITTLE WHIPPET (11) returns from a Queensland campaign and has been racing consistently at Redcliffe so he cannot be left out of calculations. OUR MYSTERY BET (5) came from last when third behind Where’s Wood Wood last week and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,4,7

SELECTIONS: ROCKET ME (8), LOCHINVAR CHARM (9), ROLL THE ACES (10), LITTLE WHIPPET (11)

RATINGS: 8/ 9,10/ 5,11/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: ROCKET ME (8) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: LA SMOOCH (2) is resuming since a fifth in the Australian Graduate series back in May but was placed at a recent Shepparton trial performance. He is ideally drawn and this is a drop back in class so he should prove hard to beat. SIARGAO ISLAND (5) has raced four times to date and each performance were in feature events. He was resuming since a sixth in a heat of the Nutrien Classic when third in the Premiere Stakes, where the mile rate was a sensational 1.52.3 so he is likely to find this assignment to be more suitable. NEPTUNITE (11) is a first starter for astute mentor Bruce Harpley. He has won at his past two trial attempts in New South Wales and is worth an investment. DRAW THE CURTAIN (3) has shown some ability at the trials and is worth thought along with OZZIE PEARL (1), THE GOLDEN HOOK (4) and CAPTAIN MOLLY (10).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: LA SMOOCH (2), SIARGAO ISLAND (5), NEPTUNITE (11), DRAW THE CURTAIN (3)

RATINGS: 2/ 5,11/ 3/ 1,4,10/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: LA SMOOCH (2) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: THEROCKGOD (7) possesses a powerful finishing burst and should be reaching his peak form after having four starts back from a spell. He came from last and ran a sharp race for fourth behind Ideal Moth last outing so he rates as a value chance. ILLUSTRIOUS (4) has struck peak form and has the early speed to be prominent throughout. He pushed forward to race without cover when he scored at Mildura two starts ago and followed with a fourth in fast time at Melton. TOORAM CEE CEE (6) finished off well to score at Bendigo two starts ago then had no clear run when an unlucky seventh at Maryborough. He is awkwardly drawn but is racing well enough to figure in the finish. VALIENTE (9) was driven aggressively and produced a dominant display when he scored at Charlton on September 29. He missed out at Melton last outing but he gets into this race with a concession claim so he is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: THEROCKGOD (7), ILLUSTRIOUS (4), TOORAM CEE CEE (6), VALIENTE (9)

RATINGS: 4,7/ 6/ 2/ 3/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: THE ROCKGOD (7) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SOHO PLAYGIRL (7) is a short course specialist and worked forward to find the lead when she scored at Shepparton last week. She is widely drawn but must be considered as one of the leading chances. BAM BAM BROOK (8) led throughout to score in a mile rate of 1.55.5 at his Victorian debut. He faces a negative swing in the barrier draw but he must be rated highly. POSTIT LAFITE (5) led throughout to score at Shepparton in August. She is a handy juvenile filly and should give a forward showing. GINGER ELLA (6) led throughout to score at Melton two starts ago then had little luck in fast time at Wagga. She is a lightly raced filly with ability and warrants consideration.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 5,6

SELECTIONS: SOHO PLAYGIRL (7), BAM BAM BROOK (8), POSTIT LAFITE (5). GINGER ELLA (6)

RATINGS: 7/ 8/ 5,6/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: SOHO PLAYGIRL (7) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG BRANDY (9) worked forward to lead and completely dominated her rivals when she scored at Cranbourne last outing. She is racing in outstanding form having won four of her past six starts and is clearly the horse to beat again. MANDA KYVALLEY (8) pushed forward to find the lead and scored easily at Ballarat two starts ago. She finished fourth in a handy field at Melton last outing and should go well against this line up. SETTLE THE BILL (3) worked home best to score against similar opposition two starts ago then missed away from the standing start and lost her chance last outing. She will appreciate switching back to the mobile start tonight and is not without a chance. VAN DOREN (4) is racing better than his form reads and is worth a place ticket.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,7

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG BRANDY (9), MANDA KYVALLEY (8), SETTLE THE BILL (3), VAN DOREN (4)

RATINGS: 9/ 8/ 3/ 4/ 2,7

SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG BRANDY (9) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: LITTLE MISS MORGAN (7) is still learning but has ability and is worth an investment. She missed the start and gave away a lot of ground before powering home for a big second behind Voldagha at Shepparton last week. FRIKSHYN (8) is resuming since a sixth in the Homegrown Classic at Melton in December. He has been performing very well at the trials and should take beating against this line up. SHINELIKETHESUN (5) was heavily supported after several handy trial performances but missed away and lost her chance at her debut. She has ability and is a winning chance if she delivers a fool proof display. ALDEBARAN MISTIQUE (1) was doing her best work at the end when third at Shepparton last week and is a place chance again.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 5

SELECTIONS: LITTLE MISS MORGAN (7), FRIKSHYN (8), SHINELIKETHESUN (5), ALDEBARAN MISTIQUE (1)

RATINGS: 7,8/ 5/ 1/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: LITTLE MISS MORGAN (7) each way
