Mildura, Friday 8 August

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: TOUGH AINT ENOUGH (6) finished well and was able to dead heat for first with CAULONIA TERROR (7) when resuming then produced a big effort after working into the breeze when a nose second behind Prioritise last week. He is building up a good record and should prove hard to beat again. RED HOT MIKI (1) led throughout in two victories prior to having no clear run in the race won by Prioritise last week. He is ideally drawn and looms as one of the leading chances. CAULONIA TERROR (7) has the perfect trailing draw behind RED HOT MIKI (1) and he possesses a powerful finishing burst so he must be respected. GOOD BOOTS BINDI (2) also possesses the ability to finish strongly and she has won five races at Mildura for the season so she cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 4,6

SELECTIONS: TOUGH AINT ENOUGH (6), CAULONIA TERROR (7), RED HOT MIKI (1), GOOD BOOTS BINDI (2)

RATINGS: 6/ 1,7/ 2/ 4/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: TOUGH AINT ENOUGH (6) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: STARVIN MARVIN (9) appears to be well placed against this field and is worth thought. He ended up being three back on the markers and was held up for a run at a vital stage when third behind Flyin Tommy at Mildura last outing. APOLOGY ACCEPTED (7) missed out last week but his form prior was sound including a fast finishing second behind Cruz With Rome on July 18. He is awkwardly drawn but will take holding out in the run to the finish. ULTIMATE EGO (5) possesses early speed and is likely to land a prominent position shortly after the start. She finished off well when third behind Punto Caliente at Mildura two starts ago. STONEBRIDGE STAR (6) is likely to settle in the second half of the field but he should be finishing off strongly.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 5

SELECTIONS: STARVIN MARVIN (9), APOLOGY ACCEPTED (7), ULTIMATE EGO (5), STONEBRIDGE STAR (6)

RATINGS: 7,9/ 5/ 6/ 2/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: STARVIN MARVIN (9) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: ELLAVA PACER (2) is a former New South Wales pacer, which created a big impression at his debut for trainer Alex Ashwood, where he led, kicked well clear in the back straight and held on to score at Kilmore. He is drawn to lead again and will take catching. KEAYANG CRIPPA (5) is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. He settled in a rearward position and finished off well for second behind Love To Deal last week. CHEERS POVERTY (7) pushed forward to find the lead and won comfortably two weeks ago then finished off best from behind the leader last week. He faces a tough draw but is racing too well to dismiss. DANNY RAY (8) ran a better race last week and has claims along with OUR MASTER PLAY (9).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,3,6

SELECTIONS: ELLAVA PACER (2), KEAYANG CRIPPA (5), CHEERS POVERTY (7), DANNY RAY (8)

RATINGS: 2/ 5,7/ 8,9/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: ELLAVA PACER (2) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: PUNTO CALIENTE (8) sustained a long run from last and did well when a close second behind Cheers Poverty last week. He is racing in good form and looms as one of the leading chances again. GRENADE (9) will find this race to be a little easier than his latest performances and should go well. He led throughout to defeat Spring Delight at a Mildura victory on June 27. PLAYNICE (6) charged through to hold the lead from the pole position, ran along at a genuine tempo and peaked late when third last week. The drop back in distance is an advantage and he is worth another chance. SNEAKY PHILTRA (2) began fast to lead, broke stride on the first turn then pulled hard so she had excuses when seventh last week. She is a versatile mare and should give a forward showing from her good draw over the sprint distance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 4,6

SELECTIONS: PUNTO CALIENTE (8), GRENADE (9), PLAYNICE (6), SNEAKY PHILTRA (2)

RATINGS: 8/ 6,9/ 2/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: PUNTO CALIENTE (8) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: NANNA HELEN (4) was resuming since March when she attempted to lead throughout and was run down over the final 100m at her latest second behind Ohso Kinky. She should be fitter from that run and is drawn to find the lead again so she is capable of going one better. BELLA ABBY (1) worked hard early then gained a trail when a handy fourth behind Love To Deal last week. She is drawn to receive every chance so she must be considered as a winning chance. RONZEL MICKY (6) began quickly to find the lead and ran along at a genuine tempo when she scored at Mildura last outing. She has been placed at her past four attempts and is worth thought again. CYCLONE BRENDA (8) is racing well but without luck in South Australia and has performed well at Mildura previously so she cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,3

SELECTIONS: NANNA HELEN (4), BELLA ABBY (1), RONZEL MICKY (6), CYCLONE BRENDA (8)

RATINGS: 4/ 1,6/ 3,8

SUGGESTED BET: NANNA HELEN (4) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: ALL DA RAGE (6) was able to lead throughout from the pole position at Melton last outing and he boasts a very strong record at Mildura. He is versatile and appears to be very well graded against this line up. PRIORITISE (2) had no luck after commencing from the inside of the second row when resuming at Mildura then led for the majority of the journey when he held off Tough Aint Enough last week. He should be reaching his peak form and will be prominent throughout from his good draw. JETTER SON (7) was resuming since completing three wins in succession in April/May when he endured a tough run and finished fourth in a slick mile rate of 1.54.7 at Bendigo. He is a smart 3yo and is not without a chance despite the awkward draw. LE SPARTACUS (1) has won three of his past five starts and is ideally drawn for this assignment so he warrants respect. He was left stranded on the outside of the leader throughout when fifth at Mildura last week.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,5,6

SELECTIONS: ALL DA RAGE (6), PRIORITISE (2), JETTER SON (7), LE SPARTACUS (1)

RATINGS: 6/ 2,7/ 1,8/ 4,9/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: ALL DA RAGE (6) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: THE NINJA (2) is resuming since an eighth in the Australian Gold Graduate series at Melton in May. This race is much easier so a bold showing is expected first up. JUST JIMMY (1) has been placed in three of past four starts and chased hard in a slick final half of 57.2 seconds at his latest second behind My Ultimate Jimmy. He is ideally drawn and should run his usual honest race. POTTSY THE GURU (3) finished off nicely for an eye-catching second behind Jilliby Moon last outing. He has been promising a win for some time and will be competitive if he delivers another fool proof display. SLOANIE BEL (5) joins trainer Boris Devcic and was placed in a slick mile rate of 1.55.8 at her second career start so she must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: THE NINJA (2), JUST JIMMY (1), POTTSY THE GURU (3), SLOANIE BEL (5)

RATINGS: 2/ 1/ 3,5/ 4,11

SUGGESTED BET: JUST JIMMY (1) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (11) has improved in each of his efforts to date and will prove hard to beat despite the extreme draw. He pushed forward to race without cover and produced a very quick last half of 57.2 seconds at Mildura when he scored last outing. JILLIBY MOON (10) ambled forward to find the lead and won easily at Mildura last week. She was impressive at her Mildura debut and should be competitive again. HOOKLINEANDSINKER (9) joins trainer Naomi Kerr and is worth thought at his Mildura debut. He recorded a handy mile rate of 1.57.7 when he won at his debut and his past three efforts have been against handy opposition at Wagga. BRING MY BLING (1) is a fast beginner and is drawn to find her favourite position of being the pacemaker so she is capable of filling a place.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 6

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (11), JILLIBY MOON (10), HOOKLINEANDSINKER (9), BRING MY BLING (1)

RATINGS: 10,11/ 9/ 1/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: Boxed Trifecta 9,10,11 (Cost $6)

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: BRUISED EGO (4) possesses early speed and will appreciate a decent drop back in class for this assignment so he should prove hard to beat. He was doing his best work late and finished fourth behind Soho Darknstormy at Bendigo last outing. STYLISH GEM (9) competed at Metropolitan level last week and also appears to be well graded in this event. She finished off best to defeat James Garner in a mile rate of 1.58.1 at Charlton on July 07. FLYIN TOMMY (7) was rewarded for his consistent form with a victory last week, where he progressed forward at the start and found the lead. He is a versatile pace and is worth thought again. CALF PEN (5) and ONLY ONCE BITTEN (8) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: BRUISED EGO (4), STYLISH GEM (9), FLYIN TOMMY (7), CALF PEN (5)

RATINGS: 4/ 7,9/ 5,8

SUGGESTED BET: BRUISED EGO (4) to win

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: ANGELS WATCHING (2) has returned from a spell in sparkling form having had two wins and two seconds from four attempts. He was headed off from the pole position, was held up for a run at a vital stage and appeared to be unlucky when second behind Lochinvar Magic last week so he should prove hard to beat here. MIDNIGHT PIRATE (11) is shooting for a hat trick and is versatile enough to complete the task. He circled around the field to race without cover and proved to be too strong for Watchtheclock in the fastest heat of this series last week. FLAME BLASTER (4) failed to run on as expected last week but he did use up plenty of energy at the start before taking cover. He finished off quickly with one last crack at the leaders in his efforts prior so he is worth a ticket each way. WATCHTHECLOCK (6) and CRUZ WITH ROME (7) are both racing well enough to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: ANGELS WATCHING (2), MIDNIGHT PIRATE (11), FLAME BLASTER (4), WATCHTHECLOCK (6)

RATINGS: 2,11/ 4/ 6,7/ 3/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: ANGELS WATCHING (2) to win
