RACE 1
CHARLIE POTATOE (5) took the leaders back trail behind Miarka after attempting to find the lead in the early stages. He finished off fairly late behind what was a dominant winner. If he could find the lead he would be hard to beat.
TARANTULA TOM (6) was able to secure the run leaders back last start at Albion Park and battled away well for second there. He has shown enough ability to suggest a maiden victory isn’t far away and this looks a suitable race.
AUNTY POLY (2) took on a heat of the QBRED Breeders Classic two starts ago and battled away well enough there for fifth. Was well beaten last start in the final of that series but it was in tough conditions and she was off the pegs.
DIAMANTINA DAISY (3) trialled well prior to debuting. Seemed to bump into a reasonably maiden there and did a few things wrong. Could be an improver.
SELECTIONS: CHARLIE POTATOE (5), TARANTULA TOM (6), AUNTY POLY (2), DIAMANTINA DAISY (3)
SUGGESTED BET: CHARLIE POTATOE (5) to win.
RACE 2
CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (8) took on a strong race last start won by Sports Bounty last start where he hit the line well out wide. Scored a good win two starts ago coming from the back at Marburg which often isn’t an easy thing to do.
GET ME OUTTA HERE (6) draws widest in this race which is likely to make things tougher. He led last start and was well beaten but they did go quite hard for the grade so it may be worth forgiving that effort. Can be running on late.
AUNTY FRANCES (5) has good gate speed when she is racing well and draws on the front line this time. She was on the pegs last start but it was in a race they ran fast time at Marburg so her fourth had merit to it. Having now had a few runs back from a spell she should be nearing peak fitness.
OUTER CHANGE (2) has gate speed and can look to lead early before having options. She has two recent placings one of which was over the Trot Rods 947 metre journey behind Downtown Manhattan.
SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (8), GET ME OUTTA HERE (6), AUNTY FRANCES (5), OUTER CHANGE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (8) to win.
RACE 3
TREACHEROUS GABBY (4) has the draw advantage on her key rivals in this race. Last time she led she won by over 10 metres at this track and trip. She is fourth up from a spell in this race and should be nearing peak fitness.
SHEZA LENNY (5) has placed in her last six starts and was another good run last time out when getting into second behind Our Dolly after racing 3 back on the pegs. Draws awkwardly in this race and may need to do the work.
HEAVENS BABY (2) has very good gate speed and may look to launch over in the early stages before taking a trail on the right horse. She didn’t have much luck last start when being forced to go 3 wide earlier than she’d have liked in what became a dash home.
MAJOR GENERALJUJON (6) scored a solid win two runs ago at Marburg when coming from the back there.
SELECTIONS: TREACHEROUS GABBY (4), SHEZA LENNY (5), HEAVENS BABY (2), MAJOR GENERALJUJON (6)
SUGGESTED BET: TREACHEROUS GABBY (4) to win.
RACE 4
POST PAINTER (5) is a kiwi that’s first up for the Brennan stable in Australia. She brings some of the strongest form into the race having taken on some nice fillies earlier in her career. She hit the line powerfully late in a recent trial to get into second. She draws to advantage over her main rival in the race and if she can hold that advantage she looks hard to beat.
I GOT CHILLS (8) was a first up winner two starts ago when working hard to get to the front and holding off Twilight Tango late who had done no work. Last start he was forced to work hard and found a couple better late but there was still plenty of merit to the run. He is dictated to early starting from the back row draw.
PLANET DOWNS (7) draws awkwardly inside the back but has been racing nicely. Ran second to Our Ultimate Jessy four starts ago in a good effort after doing some early work. Can figure in the finish with even luck in running.
LITTLE SURFER GIRL (4) scored a maiden win two back when finishing over the top. She finds a strong restricted wins race but can figure in the minor money.
SELECTIONS: POST PAINTER (5), I GOT CHILLS (8), PLANET DOWNS (7), LITTLE SURFER GIRL (4)
SUGGESTED BET: POST PAINTER (5) to win.
RACE 5
ARTISTIC SAINT (1) showed good gate speed three runs ago before handing over in the early stages in a race won by Happy As Can Be. This looks a bit easier than that race and he draws ideally in gate 1. He hit the line powerfully last start to get into second and should get every chance out in front in this race.
TACKAS LAST DANCE (7) follows a gate speed horse in the early stages of the race and has been in good form. She seems to do her best work getting a soft run on the pegs so should be well suited in this race.
SAINT LOUIS BEAT (8) loomed into it strongly last start and was just run down by Freelance Dancer who had a soft run in the race. Looks likely to secure a good run early in this race and can be running on again.
FREELANCE DANCER (5) secured a good run last start for the new stable and was good enough to score. The draw in this race isn’t so kind and she may get back or be forced to work hard.
SELECTIONS: ARTISTIC SAINT (1), TACKAS LAST DANCE (7), SAINT LOUIS BEAT (8), FREELANCE DANCER (5)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE 6
UNIT FORTY ONE (6) scored an extremely impressive last start win over October Racketeer in really fast time for the grade where the first two cleared out by a big margin to third. Draws widest in this race due to his recent early error but off last start efforts looks hardest to beat again.
GOOD WORD THAT (5) took on a race won by Peejay Mack last start that was dominated by the runners on the pegs with the first three horses home all racing on the pegs. He was forced to come wide in that race and did well to get into fourth.
FOR NO REASON (8) was able to do enough to lead two starts ago at Marburg and proved too strong holding off Milliewood late. She look well graded in this race and can be forgiven for her last start effort when making an early move wide on the track in a race it was tough to get into for the back markers.
MADAM WEST (9) was been racing well and is rarely far away. She might get a reasonably run into the race on the back of For No Reason and can be closing off nicely late.
SELECTIONS: UNIT FORTY ONE (6), GOOD WORD THAT (5), FOR NO REASON (8), MADAM WEST (9)
SUGGESTED BET: UNIT FORTY ONE (6) to win.
RACE 7
PET KITTY (8) put in a better effort two starts ago when starting from a wide gate and finishing off nicely in a solid overall mile rate. She draws to get a nice run through early and shouldn’t be too far off them in the run.
FEAR THE BANKER (6) can do plenty wrong in his races and continues to struggle to get right up to the gate leaving him ODM for this race. He was a very impressive third two starts ago when flashing late to run third behind Edward Jay.
QUIK CHANGE (5) did the work outside of Little Bolt last start who ran along and was good there to battle on for third. This race looks a lot easier and if he can secure a good run he can be in the finish.
ROCKNROLL TIMES (2) is racing well below his best at the moment. He is usually a good front runner but has been well beaten in recent starts when leading. He should have the speed to be close enough early and if he can recapture his better form he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: PET KITTY (8), FEAR THE BANKER (6), QUIK CHANGE (5), ROCKNROLL TIMES (2)
SUGGESTED BET: FEAR THE BANKER (6) to win
RACE 8
MIKIS JOE (8) was first up for a new stable last start after making his way to QLD from Tasmania. He made the first move 3 wide loomed up into the race strongly and was able to score over Resilient who has been in good form. This race appears as though it could set up similarly and he should be hard to beat again.
LORD MEMNOCK (3) was an impressive run last start when caught off the track beaten just 2.2 metres in fast time. He draws better in this race and if he can find a position up on speed is likely to be hard to hold out.
BLACKJACK BART (1) isn’t a horse that possesses much gate speed and will need to hold a position in the early stages. He has been racing well and should be closing off nicely as he almost always is.
DRAGON (7) draws awkwardly inside the back row behind a horse without great gate speed. Hit the line nicely last start behind Barry Limbo and has been impressive this time in seemingly beginning to deliver on the early potential he showed.
SELECTIONS: MIKIS JOE (8), LORD MEMNOCK (3), BLACKJACK BART (1), DRAGON (7)
SUGGESTED BET: MIKIS JOE (8) to win.
RACE 9
IMA BEACH BABE (6) is the class runner in the field and retuned from a spell nicely enough her last two starts. She started from an outside back row draw last start and was forced to come 3 wide early and did well to get into third despite the race being a dash home.
FAY IRENE (2) has decent gate speed and might be able to find her way to the front in this race which would see her hard to beat. She was an impressive second three starts ago when working hard and just being beaten late by a horse that came from off the speed.
THERESACHANCE (3) has very good gate speed and his racing near his best despite being 11 years old. He finds another suitable race where he has options early. He would be very hard to beat leading but would also be a solid hope being saved for one run at them late.
OUR ULTIMATE LUKA (8) ran into it strongly last start to score a solid win over reasonable opposition. She draws to do no work in the early stages here which should suit.
SELECTIONS: IMA BEACH BABE (6), FAY IRENE (2), THERESACHANCE (3), OUR ULTIMATE LUKA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: IMA BEACH BABE (6) to win.
