Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: ALWAYS BE BLAKEY (11) performed below expectations when unplaced at Geelong last outing but he is the class runner of the field and would take beating if he returned to his peak. He scored at Metropolitan level last campaign and he was runner up in a sizzling mile rate of 1.53.8 at Hamilton two starts ago. RUEBE STARBUCK (4) endured a tough run when second at Ballarat two starts ago then attempted to lead throughout when a close up fourth behind Dance Affair at Geelong last outing. She is a good chance of finding the lead again so she warrants respect. HITTHEROADJACK (9) appreciated a drop back in class when he was driven aggressively to find the lead and scored easily at Kilmore. This is a race of more depth but he is worth thought again. GIVE DAVE A WAVE (12) has been racing against stronger opposition and is capable of improving on his numerical form

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: ALWAYS BE BLAKEY (11), RUEBE STARBUCK (4), HITTHEROADJACK (9), GIVE DAVE A WAVE (12)

RATINGS: 11/ 4,9/ 2,3,12/ 6,8,13

SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS BE BLAKEY (11) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: SHEZALOVER (5) was resuming since a sixth in the Homegrown Classic in December when she settled three back on the markers and finished off well for third behind Exalted Lady. She should be improved by the run and is worth thought against this field. RYMES (12) has a lot of ability but his manners constantly let him down. He has performed well at the trials since his latest fourth and he will prove hard to beat if he delivers a fool proof display. MANDA KYVALLEY (9) has had a run of poor barrier draws of late and is racing better than her form reads. She scored at Maryborough in February and she should be hitting the line strongly against this class. AGAINST THE BRIDLE (10) has won two of his past four starts and is strong enough to overcome the poor draw. He settled in the second half of the field when sixth behind Allwatfunjingles at Kilmore last outing and he should find this race to be easier.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 4,7

SELECTIONS: SHEZALOVER (5), RYMES (12), MANDA KYVALLEY (9), AGAINST THE BRIDLE (10)

RATINGS: 5/ 9,12/ 10/ 2,4,8

SUGGESTED BET: SHEZALOVER (5) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MY LUCKY ROCK (12) is working into form with a third at Maryborough prior to a close second behind Dot Ball at Melton, where she trailed the leader and used the passing lane. She faces a negative swing in the barrier draw but is nearing a win against this class. TOPZAVSKI (9) won a race of similar standard at Melton on March 14 and is capable of showing up without surprising. FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (3) is usually competitive against this class and performs best when she is close to the pace so she has the conditions to suit her here. She didn’t have much luck in the straight when unplaced against stronger opposition at Bendigo last week. SPECULATOR (1) is drawn to receive every chance and VERY TEMPTING (5) was placed in a slick mile rate of 1.56.4 at his latest attempt.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: MY LUCKY ROCK (12), TOPZAVSKI (9), FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (3), SPECULATOR (1)

RATINGS: 9,12/ 1,3/ 5,13/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: MY LUCKY ROCK (12) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: FORESIGHT (8) began quickly to find the lead and ran along at a genuine tempo when she scored at Cranbourne in a mile of 1.55.9 last outing. She is awkwardly drawn on the second line but she should prove hard to beat again. MY ULTIMATE SASSY (9) has been racing consistently and looms as one of the leading chances. She attempted to lead throughout and was beaten on the line when a close second at Geelong last outing. OUR TRUE COLOURS (4) has won three of her past six starts and should be prominent throughout from her good draw. She led throughout at Melton on May 09. ELATED (3) has disappointed at his first two runs back from a spell but he was impressive at the trials prior so he is capable of a better performance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,6

SELECTIONS: FORESIGHT (8), MY ULTIMATE SASSY (9), OUR TRUE COLOURS (4), ELATED (3)

RATINGS: 8/ 4,9/ 3/ 7/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: FORESIGHT (8) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SALSAWITHSIERRA (9) was able to lead throughout at Cranbourne two starts ago then held her own in fast final sectionals when sixth at Cranbourne. She strikes a suitable assignment now and should run a good race again. CONSPIRATOR (1) has struck form having won at his past two attempts and is drawn to receive the perfect trip so he must be considered as a winning chance again. CINQUANTA (4) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and has the speed to be in the finish. She recorded a slick mile rate of 1.55.9 when she won at Melton at the beginning of the season. DOT BALL (3) and TEX GOES BANG (7) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,4,5

SELECTIONS: SALSAWITHSIERRA (9), CONSPIRATOR (1), CINQUANTA (4), TEX GOES BANG (7)

RATINGS: 9/ 1,4/ 7/ 3/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: SALSAWITHSIERRA (9) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: BENNIE AND THE JETS (1) was resuming since an unplaced run in a heat of the Great Southern Star when he came from a rearward position in a leader dominated race and finished a creditable fourth at Bendigo. He won a trial prior and he should be getting fitter so he must be respected. ZAREM (8) is resuming since March but he has been performing well at the Bendigo trials and he possesses a powerful finishing burst so he is not without a chance. HATCHBACK (9) was resuming since September when he attempted to lead throughout and performed below expectations behind Watts Up Partytime. He should be fitter, possesses a good standing start record and will appreciate a big drop back in class so he is worth another chance. CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (3) made an error last outing but his form prior was sound so he is worth thought. MAESTRO (6) and TRIPOD (7) are also racing well enough to be competitive if they receive the right luck in running.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,6 (10m)

SELECTIONS: BENNIE AND THE JETS (1), ZAREM (8), HATCHBACK (9), CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (3)

RATINGS: 1/ 8,9/ 3,6,7/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: BENNIE AND THE JETS (1) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: MYNAMEISRUBY (8) worked forward to find the lead and peaked late when sixth at Bendigo last outing. She scored after trailing the leader prior and most of her best runs have come from that position so she looks perfectly placed from the inside of the second line behind the fast beginner in SNAZOLA (1). SNAZOLA (1) endured a tough run and had excuses when seventh at Kilmore last outing. She scored against similar grade at Ballarat on April 17 and should give a bold showing from her ideal draw. ALCATRAZ GIRL (10) produced a career best performance when she led throughout and posted a mile rate of 1.56.4 at Geelong last outing. She faces a negative swing with the barrier draw but a repeat of her latest performance would see her being very competitive in this event. MIDNITE DESIRE (5) missed out last outing but was a winner at Geelong three starts ago and is worth an investment. MICTON MOUSE (3), ONA MERRY DANCE (4) and LAVADA GOLD (9) are all capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,5,6

SELECTIONS: MYNAMEISRUBY (8), SNAZOLA (1), ALCATRAZ GIRL (10), MIDNITE DESIRE (5)

RATINGS: 1,8/ 5,10/ 3,4,9/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: MYNAMEISRUBY (8) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: CHALKNCHEDDAR (5) finished off well to score at Ouyen then worked hard when taking on stronger opposition at his past two unplaced performances. This is a more suitable assignment and he is worth another chance. ARCHAA (10) produced a strong performance for third when resuming then worked hard to lead and was run down in a much tougher race last week. He should be reaching his peak form and is more versatile than most in this field. ANGEL OF ANGER (8) missed out narrowly when second behind Tex Goes Bang prior to a ninth in fast time at Geelong. She is awkwardly drawn but is worth thought under these conditions. NOBLE JULIA (7) and FESTINALENTE (9) both have claims in an open betting event.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible early leader), 5,6,7

SELECTIONS: CHALKNCHEDDAR (5), ARCHAA (10), ANGEL OF ANGER (8), NOBLE JULIA (7)

RATINGS: 5,10/ 8/ 7,9/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: CHALKNCHEDDAR (5) each way

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: SKY FLAIR (7) was resuming since a third in the Super Series Final when she attempted to lead throughout and was run down on the line at Melton. She backed up with a comfortable victory at Cranbourne and is worth thought again. IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (6) produced an impressive performance to win at his debut and is worth thought again despite rising in class. VERA LANE (3) is resuming since a win at Bendigo in October and she did make it through to the Super Series Final last season so she cannot be left out of cannot calculations. KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (5) progressed forward to find the lead and scored comfortably at Bendigo last outing. This is a race of more depth but he is worth thought again. CLAUDYS HERO (8) ran a good race last week and rates as a value chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 5,6,7

SELECTIONS: SKY FLAIR (7), IJUSTCALLEDTOSAY (6), VERA LANE (3), KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (5)

RATINGS: 7/ 3,5,6/ 8/ 4/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: SKY FLAIR (7) to win
