Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: CANTFINDABETTORMAN (4) is resuming since a fifth in the Cranbourne Cup in February. He was a strong winner over SERG BLANCO (3) at a Shepparton trial performance last week and he is drawn to be prominent throughout. BULLETPROOF BOY (10) has been freshened since a close second behind Yambukian at Melton in April. He was racing in great form against elite opposition last preparation and he should run his usual honest race. SOHO SPECTRE (9) is a handy former New South Wales trained 4yo pacer, which finished fourth behind Captain Hammerhead in the Riverina Championship last outing. He boasts a terrific strike rate and he has won at Melton previously so he cannot be underestimated. BETTOR ISOLATE (1) won from behind the leader at Melton last week and is drawn to obtain a similar run so he warrants consideration.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,3,7
SELECTIONS: CANTFINDABETTORMAN (4), BULLETPROOF BOY (10), SOHO SPECTRE (9), BETTOR ISOLATE (1)
RATINGS: 4,10/ 1,9/ 8/ 3,7
SUGGESTED BET: CANTFINDABETTORMAN (4) each way
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: KWICK SAND (4) began quickly to race without cover and finished third behind Jilliby Illuminate at Melton last week. He is racing in peak form and should give another forward showing. PLAINS IN HEAVEN (9) endured a wide trip and had excuses when seventh at Melton last outing. His overall form is sound and he appears to be suited against this class so he must be respected. THE IRON DUKE (8) is a versatile pacer, which followed a close up third behind Ubetta Knot with a sixth last week, where he went to the line with no clear run, seemingly with something in reserve. He has claims with normal luck in running. ALWAYS THE SHOWMAN (2) is a fast beginner and performs best when he is able to lead. He ran a sharper race at his latest second so he is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,7
SELECTIONS: KWICK SAND (4), PLAINS IN HEAVEN (9), THE IRON DUKE (8), ALWAYS THE SHOWMAN (2)
RATINGS: 4/ 9/ 8/ 1,2,7

Race 3:
OVERVIEW: CLYMENUS (1) has been racing in peak form and broke through for a deserved victory at Melton last week. He is perfectly drawn over the sprint distance and must be considered as a winning chance again. PERUN (7) has performed extremely well at his two starts since coming from New Zealand and finished off best to defeat In An Ideal World at Cranbourne last time out. He should continue to improve with the benefit of race fitness and is worth following. SAIFA (2) began quickly and ended up being behind the leader when second behind the smart mare Jilliby Illuminate last week. He should be reaching his peak form after having two starts back from a break and rates as one of the leading chances. JACCKA CONNOR (3) finished off best via the sprint lane to win last week. This race is of similar standard so he is worth thought again along with ODIN (11), which is racing in career best form.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,4
SELECTIONS: CLYMENUS (1), PERUN (7), SAIFA (2), JACCKA CONNOR (3)
RATINGS: 1/ 2,7/ 3,11/ 8,12/ 4
SUGGESTED BET: CLYMENUS (1) each way
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: TRUSCOTTS ELEGANCE (3) is the most experienced horse in the field and continues to race consistently. She was a winner at Bendigo three starts ago and she finished off nicely when second behind Unclad at Melton last time out so she must be included amongst the leading chances. JAYS ALL THAT (6) chased hard when a game second at Melton on debut then followed with a comfortable victory at Bendigo. He has appeared to be fool proof at his two starts to date and is worth thought again. PASS THE SALT (7) is a first starter for trainer Chris Svanosio, which defeated JAYS ALL THAT (6) and HOWDY MATE (4) at a recent Melton trial victory so he must be kept safe. HALLEBESOFINE (2) worked to the front and ran a cheeky race on debut so she is not without a chance from her good draw.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,6
SELECTIONS: TRUSCOTTS ELEGANCE (3), JAYS ALL THAT (6), PASS THE SALT (7), HALLEBESOFINE (2)
RATINGS: 3,6/ 7/ 2,4/ 1
SUGGESTED BET: TRUSCOTTS ELEGANCE (3) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: SEATHESTARS (1) finished third in the Bathurst Gold Chalice Final and followed with a second in the Nutrien Classic Final at Melton on April 11. He is a classy 3yo pacer and is ideally drawn so he is clearly the horse to beat. COLLECTIVE WORKS (8) was heavily supported last week but he was shuffled back in the field during the final circuit and had no clear run at the finish. He has the perfect trailing draw behind SEATHESTARS (1) so he is worth another chance. BIG BAD OSSIE (13) is racing in good form with a second in the Wagga Cup prior to a third behind Royal Division in a slick mile rate of 1.53.1. He gets into this race with a concession claim and should be finding the line strongly. TWISTING BY (12) possesses a powerful finishing burst and will be fitter after two handy trial performances so he is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,7
SELECTIONS: SEATHESTARS (1), COLLECTIVE WORKS (8), BIG BAD OSSIE (13), TWISTING BY (12)
RATINGS: 1/ 8,13/ 9,12/ 7
SUGGESTED BET: SEATHESTARS (1) to win
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1) was driven aggressively and produced a strong performance to win in a mile rate of 1.53.3 at Melton last outing. She is much better drawn for this assignment and she is very strong so she must be considered as a winning chance again. UBETCHA TIGERPIE (8) broke at the start when he was resuming and lost his chance. He was second behind his stable mate Rocknroll Doo at a recent Maryborough trial performance and he recorded a mile rate of 1.52.3 when he won at Melton three starts ago so he must be respected. SMOKEN ACE (4) attempted to lead throughout when a close third behind RAGING WHITEBAIT (7) at Melton last outing. He continues to race well and should give another forward showing. DESSIE GEE (5) is a fast beginner and is racing well enough to figure in the finish. JUSTALITTLESIP (6) and RAGING WHITEBAIT (7) could both show up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,5
SELECTIONS: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1), UBETCHA TIGERPIE (8), SMOKEN ACE (4), DESSIE GEE (5)
RATINGS: 1/ 4,8/ 5,6,7/ 2
SUGGESTED BET: LE BELLE BIJOUX (1) each way
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: WATTS UP PARTYTIME (8) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane when he scored against the open class at Melton last week. This race is a little easier so he looms as the horse to beat again. EBONYS AVENGER (3) is a very fast mare, which was placed behind Harold Smith in the Geelong Cup four starts ago. She usually tries to lead out then take cover and is drawn to adopt her favourite tactic here so she is worth a ticket each way. ILLAWONG LARAJAY (6) left a trailing position to move up without cover when a brave winner over More Wanted at Melton last week. This is a race of more depth but she is worth thought again. SEBASTIANS BOY (1) could show up from the pole position and SUNDONS COURAGE (7) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 2,5,7
SELECTIONS: WATTS UP PARTYTIME (8), EBONYS AVENGER (3), ILLAWONG LARAJAY (6), SUNDONS COURAGE (7)
RATINGS: 8/ 3,6/ 7/ 1,5
SUGGESTED BET: WATTS UP PARTYTIME (8) to win
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: JILLIBY BALLERINI (2) was resuming since a second in the Breeders Crown in November when she defeated the subsequent New South Wales Oaks winner Gatesys Gem at Geelong. She is a quality mare and is drawn to run another big race. REMUS PHOENIX (5) is resuming since a Bendigo victory in November but he has been very impressive at the trials and is likely to give a bold showing. AVANT GUARD (8) worked hard to find the lead when second behind Pinnie two starts ago then had little luck from the inside of the second line when fourth behind Illawong Larajay last week. He is racing in peak form and worth thought again. MEGA SPUR (1) is a fast beginner and is drawn to receive every chance so she is capable of filling a place.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 2,4
SELECTIONS: JILLIBY BALLERINI (2), REMUS PHOENIX (5), AVANT GUARD (8), MEGA SPUR (1)
RATINGS: 2,5/ 8/ 1/ 6,7
SUGGESTED BET: JILLIBY BALLERINI (2) to win
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: IM READY JET (7) led and ran a great race when a close second behind Keayang Zahara at Melton then followed with a fourth in the MacArthur Mile in record time. She is an outstanding mare and will prove very hard to beat again. ALDEBARAN ACRUX (5) broke stride and lost her chance at Melton two starts ago then produced a top performance when third in the MacArthur Mile. She beat IM READY JET (7) to the line at Menangle last week so she looms as the main danger again. ALDEBARAN VERA (6) is resuming since her latest fifth in the Geelong Cup. She won the Ararat Cup prior and she is very versatile so she cannot be left out of calculations. ALDEBARAN MILEY (4) is likely to use her early speed to gain a prominent position and is capable of filling a place.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 6,7
SELECTIONS: IM READY JET (7), ALDEBARAN ACRUX (5), ALDEBARAN VERA (6), ALDEBARAN MILEY (4)
RATINGS: 7/ 5,6/ 4/ 2/ 3/ 1
