Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: ROCKSTAR LEO (3) worked hard to find the lead at the 1400m and fought on strongly when a brave second behind RUBY WINGATE (10) at Bendigo last outing. He endured a tough run when third behind Chogi prior so he should prove hard to beat again. RUBY WINGATE (10) angled out very wide on the home turn and finished off fast when a big winner last week. She has seemingly worked back to her best form at her past two attempts and looms as one of the leading chances again. EPIC ORION (12) left a trailing position to move up without cover at the 1300m when a game third in the same race last week. He has been placed at his past five starts and should be competitive again. BUDD SIDEWINDER (8) started as the favourite in the same race last week and he usually finishes off strongly so he is worth another chance.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 5,6
SELECTIONS: ROCKSTAR LEO (3), RUBY WINGATE (10), EPIC ORION (12), BUDD SIDEWINDER (8)
RATINGS: 3,10/ 12/ 8/ 6,11
SUGGESTED BET: ROCKSTAR LEO (3) to win
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: BILLY ZIPPIN (1) is a fast beginner and performs best when he is close to the speed. He raced without cover throughout and fought on strongly for second at Echuca last outing so he is capable of going one better from the pole position. KEAYANG FRANCISCO (4) has been down on form recently but this is a significant drop back in class so an improved effort is likely. She was slow to begin and was in the second half of the field throughout at her latest sixth behind Sista Evarista. MIDNITE MUSCLE (8) is racing consistently and should receive a nice trip with the trailing draw behind BILLY ZIPPIN (1). He was placed from behind the leader at Maryborough last week. KALARNEY PRINCE (2), CHARLIE WALKER (7) and FAITH FULL (11) are all capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,7
SELECTIONS: BILLY ZIPPIN (1), KEAYANG FRANCISCO (4), MIDNITE MUSCLE (8), KALARNEY PRINCE (2)
RATINGS: 1,4/ 8/ 2,7/ 11
SUGGESTED BET: BILLY ZIPPIN (1) each way
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: HESTON CASH (10) worked forward to the lead and was run down late by Muselet (won again since) at Charlton then followed with a sixth behind Chogi. This appears to be a suitable assignment and he is worth an investment. HOME AND DRY (12) ran home well from midfield when third behind Four Lonely Nights at Ballarat on Thursday. That was his best run for some time and a repeat performance will see him go close. KIMCHI (11) was runner up when taking on similar opposition at Kilmore three starts ago and is not without a chance. MALAVA MISS (9) should be getting fitter after her three starts back from a spell and she ran into a distant third last outing so she cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 5,6,7
SELECTIONS: HESTON CASH (10), HOME AND DRY (12), KIMCHI (11), MALAVA MISS (9)
RATINGS: 10,12/ 11/ 9/ 1,5/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: HESTON CASH (10) each way
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: MILLI ME (9) is a nicely bred filly, which recorded a mile rate of 1.56.0 when she scored on debut then struck trouble when seemingly under pressure in the latter stages of the Gold Chalice on February 01. She is resuming from a spell and hasn’t been to the trials but she is too good to dismiss. KEAYANG GALLIANO (6) finished off quickly when third behind Didafull Oneeighty at Terang then ran another good race behind the smart pacer Keayang Hollywood at Hamilton on Friday. She appears to be well placed in this event and must be considered as a winning chance. CHANGEOVER GIRL (4) finished off nicely for third at Shepparton then got a long way back from an awkward draw at her latest fifth. She possesses a powerful finishing burst and rates as a value hope. MISTER JIMARINGLE (8) recorded a slick mile rate of 1.54.6 when he scored at Bendigo on March 19 and he has been racing consistently so he is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 5,6
SELECTIONS: MILLI ME (9), KEAYANG GALLIANO (6), CHANGEOVER GIRL (4), MISTER JIMARINGLE (8)
RATINGS: 9/ 6/ 4,8/ 1
SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG GALLIANO (6) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: IAMAHUNTER (11) settled in a rearward position and finished off strongly when a big second behind Goodtime Captain at Bendigo last week. This race is no harder and he is capable of going one better. KALKADOON DREAMING (6) is a strong type and will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment. He worked hard early before gaining a trail when sixth in a slick mile rate of 1.55.5 last week. MAHINDI (4) met a strong field and didn’t have much luck from a wide draw last outing. He was runner up at Albury prior and should be competitive against this line up. BLUE CANNON (10) ran his best race for some time with a handy finishing third last week and is not without a chance. BETTER BLUE BOYS (7), TOPHUT JOHNY (8) and REIGN EM IN (9) are all capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible early leader), 4,6
SELECTIONS: IAMAHUNTER (11), KALKADOON DREAMING (6), MAHINDI (4), BLUE CANNON (10)
RATINGS: 6,11/ 4,10/ 7,9/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: IAMAHUNTER (11) each way
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: LE TWIST (4) has been very good in three starts since coming from New Zealand and has been freshened since her latest victory in the Maryborough Cup. She is very strong and will take beating again. THE ANSWER (1) was headed off at the start and got shuffled back on the markers when she had little luck for fifth in a Metropolitan event at Melton. She was competing against the best of her age group last season and is a strong chance if she can hold a forward position at the start. EMILY VINCENT (9) will appreciate a drop back in class on her recent efforts at Metropolitan level and she is much better than her form reads so she warrants respect. HERAKLES (6) is an underrated pacer and has claims along with BULLDOG KHAN (7).
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 4,7
SELECTIONS: LE TWIST (4), THE ANSWER (1), EMILY VINCENT (9) HERAKLES (6)
RATINGS: 4/ 1,9/ 6/ 2,5,7
SUGGESTED BET: LE TWIST (4) to win
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: TENACIOUSLY (4) is resuming since enduring a wide trip and having no luck in the Super Series Final in September. She effortlessly won a Bendigo trial recently and is the class runner of the field so she is clearly the horse to beat. DOUGS TRIBE (3) struck trouble and had excuses when resuming. He is a good chance of ending up being behind the leader from his handy draw so he must be respected. JILPANGER ROSE (5) ran a big race when second behind the in-form pacer Ozzie Daybreak at Mildura. She is building up a consistent record and should run her usual honest race. SCHERGER THAT (6) performed below expectations at his latest fifth but his form prior was sound so he is worth another chance.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 4,5,6
SELECTIONS: TENACIOUSLY (4), DOUGS TRIBE (3), JILPANGER ROSE (5), SCHERGER THAT (6)
RATINGS: 4/ 3/ 5/ 6/ 7
SUGGESTED BET: TENACIOUSLY (4) to win
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: LOUCASSO (7) is a classy colt, which won impressively at his first two attempts before finishing unplaced in the Bathurst Gold Crown, where he moved up without cover at the 1200m, was seemingly going to finish third but broke stride with 100m remaining. He finished second behind CHAINSMOKE (1) at a recent Bendigo trial performance and should run a big race first up. SOLS ME NAME (3) was undefeated in two trials prior to a very impressive debut, where he led and put a big space on his rivals. He obviously has a promising future and is worth following. CHAINSMOKE (1) also boasts very strong trial form and was impressive at his debut. He is ideally drawn and cannot be left out of calculations. EYENEEDTHAT (5) and LA SMOOCH (8) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,7
SELECTIONS: LOUCASSO (7), SOLS ME NAME (3), CHAINSMOKE (1), EYENEEDTHAT (5)
RATINGS: 7/ 1,3/ 5/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: Boxed Trifecta 1,3,7 (Cost $6)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: RIDE THE HIGHS (2) began quickly and worked to the front when a runaway winner at Shepparton last week. She is drawn to find the lead again and she recorded a handy time last time out so she should take catching. DEGARMEA TEALE (5) is a first starter for trainer Emma Stewart, which won two trials from three attempts at Gawler in South Australia. She obviously has ability and is sure to be strongly fancied. ALOT LIKE JEANNIE (3) is a first starter for trainer Laura Wilson, which trailed the leader and sprinted sharply to win at her latest Shepparton trial performance. She strikes a strong field first up but she cannot be underestimated. SHEZALLRHYTHM (4) has also won a trial recently and WAYSAM (7) made an early error and did well to finish in fourth at her debut performance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,5
SELECTIONS: RIDE THE HIGHS (2), DEGARMEA TEALE (5), ALOT LIKE JEANNIE (3), SHEZALLRHYTHM (4)
RATINGS: 2,5/ 3/ 4,7
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 2,5/ 2,5/ 3,4,7 (Cost $6)
