Redcliffe, Wednesday 23 April

RACE 1

BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) hasn’t got the best numerical form but has been taking on stronger company in recent starts. He has very good gate speed and if he was able to clear in the early stages he would prove very hard to catch. He has previously won a trot rods heat in 2020.

SCORES (6) is faced by the widest draw in this race. He has good speed and does look well placed in this company. If he’s able to secure the right run into the race he should be in the finish.

MATAI REACTOR (3) although he is not often asked to go forward at the start he has previously shown quite good gate speed and could likely find himself in a good position going forward at the start. Looks one of the main hopes.

SELECTIONS: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5), SCORES (6), MATAI REACTOR (3)

SUGGESTED BET: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) to win.

RACE 2

THE GROGMOTHER (6) has very good gate speed and can likely zip across early and find the front. If she finds the lead in this race she is likely to take plenty of catching. She generally tends to do her best work in front and hasn’t quite been able to find that position in recent starts.

PERFECT FEELING (4) does possess very good gate speed but hasn’t been driven that way in recent starts. He sat without cover last start and battled on gamely for fourth. He has been in good form and this race looks within his reach should be secure the right run.

JOGALONG COOP (3) ran a good race four starts ago at Marburg when running on well late. She looks the clear third pick in the race behind Perfect Feeling and The Grogmother and has the draw advantage on those horses.

SELECTIONS: THE GROGMOTHER (6), PERFECT FEELING (4), JOGALONG COOP (3)

SUGGESTED BET: THE GROGMOTHER (6) to win.

RACE 3

MISSTREPO (8) has been in particularly good form in recent times. She worked to the breeze last start and battled on really well into third behind Take A Chance in fast time for the grade.

NAUTIE GALVINATOR (7) could get a decent run through at the start on the back of a horse that gets out fairly in the early stages. Has been racing well and has good speed off a soft run.

MAYWYN TROUBADOR (6) is one of the classier horses in the field and looks well placed despite the wide gate. He is versatile and could be driven a number of ways.

ARENDELLE (2) did plenty of work last start and dropped out sharply in the concluding stages. May be an improver if he could find the pegs this time.

SELECTIONS: MISSTREPO (8), NAUTIE GALVINATOR (7), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (6), ARENDELLE (2)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 4

SHEREACTS (6) burned early last start and was still able to reel off a nice last half to nearly hold off Imxtraspecial who had a much more economical run. This doesn’t look any tougher and she is likely to prove very hard to beat if able to force over.

BETTYS GOLD CLASS (3) has very good gate speed and should cross in the early stages. She then has options and races well with a sit. Can be thereabouts.

HIGHLY RESPECTED (1) doesn’t have much gate speed which could prove detrimental to her chances in this race. She should still secure a good run and can figure with luck.

ZAC DANIELS (9) has been finishing off nicely in his recent runs. He should get a nice run through early.

SELECTIONS: SHEREACTS (6), BETTYS GOLD CLASS (3), HIGHLY RESPECTED (1), ZAC DANIELS (9)

SUGGESTED BET: SHEREACTS (6) to win.

RACE 5

SIX TIMES A LADY (1) was restrained to the pegs last time out at Albion Park in a race won by Royal Princess. She was making up good ground late there to get into third. She has reasonable gate speed and can likely dictate in the early stages.

MISTER HART (7) appears to get an ideal run through early on the back of a horse with gate speed. He got a long way back last start and made up strong ground there to get into fifth.

THE HARRIS HAWK (8) took on a stand start at Marburg and had a tough run there but wasn’t beaten far. He draws a reasonable gate and has options in the early stages.

AQUA CRUISER (4) ran on late last start to score a nice win at Marburg in fast time for that grade. He can do work in his races and this grade continues to look suitable.

SELECTIONS: SIX TIMES A LADY (1), MISTER HART (7), THE HARRIS HAWK (8), AQUA CRUISER (4)

SUGGESTED BET: SIX TIMES A LADY (1) to win.

RACE 6

PRINCE JOY (4) led two starts ago and was narrowly beaten by Goodoldboysandbeer. Sat without cover last start and battled on well there to get into the placings.

REDS STAR DEAL (8) worked hard early last start in a 29 first quarter before being the first horse 3 wide in a quick third quarter. Battled on well enough there to only be beaten 11 metres and looks a good chance this race could produce a solid early tempo.

SUN WUKONG (6) worked to the lead last start and scored a dominant win. He was able to break his maiden two starts ago and is looking for a hat-trick of wins in this race.

ROCK IT BABY (9) has scored two wins from his last three starts. Was working into it nicely late last start to get into sixth.

SELECTIONS: PRINCE JOY (4), REDS STAR DEAL (8), SUN WUKONG (6), ROCK IT BABY (9)

SUGGESTED BET: REDS STAR DEAL (8) to win.

RACE 7

OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (5) is having her first start for the Dixon stable. She trialled nicely hitting the line well recently behind Got The Glow. She may get back from the wide draw.

RUBY DEAR (4) led last start and battled on gamely into third behind Ribeiro. She comes into this race second up for her new stable and is likely to have derived plenty of benefit from that first up effort.

ALICE RHAYNE BOW (9) has been in good form and continued that last start when running on strongly late into second behind Ribeiro. Should get a suitable run off the speed and can be running on late.

OLDGOLD (7) trialled up fairly ahead of resuming in this race. Has shown ability.

SELECTIONS: OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (5), RUBY DEAR (4), ALICE RHAYNE BOW (9), OLDGOLD (7)

SUGGESTED BET: OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (5) to win.

RACE 8

ROSARITO (1) showed gate speed last start before being shuffled three back the pegs. Once clear he powered up the inside and just narrowly missed victory to Hoiho. He again looks to have options from a good draw and should be thereabouts.

SIGNOR JUJON (2) showed gate speed to find the pegs last start in a better race at Albion Park won by Justrollingaround. He battled on well for sixth there and looks well suited in this company.

GOTTA DREAM (8) faced the breeze two starts ago when taking on a moderate field at Marburg and battled on for a placing. Ran well again when getting back last start and running into fourth.

MAGIC NITRO (7) has run on reasonable well her last two starts after getting a long way back in the run. She seems to do her best racing when able to find the pegs which she gets the opportunity to do in this race.

SELECTIONS: ROSARITO (1), SIGNOR JUJON (2), GOTTA DREAM (8), MAGIC NITRO (7)

SUGGESTED BET: ROSARITO (1) to win.

RACE 9

OUR SWEET JESS (5) was a very impressive runner up to Waikaka Magic last run last preparation before heading for a spell. A similar effort would certainly see her taking care of this field. She trialled reasonably recently at this track.

PLANET DOWNS (3) drew inside of the back row last start behind one of the longer odds runners and didn’t have a great deal of luck there. Had taken on a strong race its start prior and draws to advantage over his main rival in this race.

GOT THE GLOW (8) returned nicely enough in a recent trial for a race of this nature. Ran an impressive second two race starts ago when sitting without cover in a race won by Leave It To Lucy.

SWEET LAD JUJON (9) found the top last start in a maiden and ran out that race a dominant winner.

SELECTIONS: OUR SWEET JESS (5), PLANET DOWNS (3), GOT THE GLOW (8), SWEET LAD JUJON (9)

SUGGESTED BET: OUR SWEET JESS (5) to win.

RACE 10

LOSTANDFOUND (3) looks to be one of the better 2YOs to have stepped out so far this year. He was very good last start in defeat doing all the work before dropping onto the leaders back and being held up at a crucial stage. Looks the one to beat.

THE LUVBUG (7) trialled up nicely prior to debuting before not handling things well on debut finishing seventh as favourite. He went to the line last start appearing to have plenty to give but nowhere to go.

LITTLE SURFER GIRL (6) broke at the start last time out and that was the end of her chances figuring in the finish. She battled away well enough to finish fifth and should be thereabouts again.

ITSALADY (1) sat without cover last start and was beaten a long way there. May be an improver with a soft run in this race.

SELECTIONS: LOSTANDFOUND (3), THE LUVBUG (7), LITTLE SURFER GIRL (6), ITSALADY (1)

SUGGESTED BET: LOSTANDFOUND (3) to win.
