Mildura, Friday 14 March

Form Analysis by Luke Humphreys

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: OUR MASTER PLAY (1) is dropping in grade for this assignment and has got the lowest barrier to boot. He has been down the track at his last two, but his previous pair of efforts were very good and in this type of race and from the draw he should receive every chance. CALF PEN (7) follows OUR MASTER PLAY (1) and showed signs of his best with a third to Midnight Pirate and Dooo Dont Think last week when coming from well back. APOLOGY ACCEPTED (8) is another Andrew Vozlic runner, one of five, and his last win was at this level. RAYS DAUGHTER (2) is the other chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3, 4, 6 (Leader?)

SELECTIONS: OUR MASTER PLAY (1), CALF PEN (7), APOLOGY ACCEPTED (8), RAYS DAUGHTER (2)

RATINGS: 1 / 7 / 8 / 2 / 6 / 4 / 5 / 3

SUGGESTED BET: Boxed First 4 1, 2, 7, 8

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: DARK SANDS (7) has drawn awkwardly on the inside of the second line and is much better when able to lead but he has been going around in better races. The last four starts have been at this level, but they have been stronger races than this and prior to that he was third at Swan Hill to Aliza Hill in a higher rating race and that form reads very well. STONEBRIDGE STAR (8) must be given an each-way chance as always and will be better for the effort last week. Stablemate PUNTO CALIENTE (4) hasn’t been far away and neither has HES A MODERN BOY (2).

EARLY SPEED: 1, 2, 3? 5 (Leader?), 6

SELECTIONS: DARK SANDS (7), STONEBRIDGE STAR (8), PUNTO CALIENTE (4), HES A MODERN BOY (2)

RATINGS: 7 / 8 / 4 / 2 / 5 / 3 / 9 / 6 / 1

SUGGESTED BET: DARK SANDS (7) Each-Way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: ORAMA (2) dropped out last week, but her previous two runs were sound when fourth to Rays Daughter, Cheers Poverty and Glitzy All Over on February 26 and of course her second to Good Boots Bindi after attempting to lead throughout on March 3. If she can keep out BEARTASTIC WRITER (5) and control the race she can go close. LILBITAHENRYTEE (1) continues to finish close-up, but he hasn’t been able to get his head in front. However, he couldn’t have drawn better for this and maps to get the perfect run. BEARTASTIC WRITER (5) and ROBERT CROCKA (9) are obvious chances with MARIAHS SHADOW (8) and KEAYANG CRIPPA (7).

EARLY SPEED: 1, 2 (Leader?), 4? 5, 6

SELECTIONS: ORAMA (2), LILBITAHENRYTEE (1), BEARTASTIC WRITER (5), ROBERT CROCKA (9)

RATINGS: 2 / 1 / 5 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 3 / 6 / 4

SUGGESTED BET: LILBITAHENRYTEE (1) Each-Way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: MIDNIGHT PIRATE (3) was impressive when first-up for Boris Devcic last week and must be given a huge chance of repeating the dose and whilst this race is at the same level as last week it is arguably a much easier assignment. LORD VERDE (1) hasn’t been able to get into the race in two runs at this venue but that will change here from the barrier, so he gets his chance to go close. Stablemate GLOBAL GEM (7) was second when first-up for the yard over the course, distance and grade and from a trailing draw rates next over GLITZY ALL OVER (5), CHEERS POVERTY (6) and HESASTAR (9).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (Leader?), 2, 4, 6

SELECTIONS: MIDNIGHT PIRATE (3), LORD VERDE (1), GLOBAL GEM (7), GLITZY ALL OVER (5)

RATINGS: 3 / 1 / 7 / 5 / 6 / 9 / 8 / 4 / 2

SUGGESTED BET: Flexi First 4 1, 3 / 1, 3 / 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 / 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ($100 gets 100%)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: THEBUCKSONYOU (7) draws economically and if the gaps can come at the right time, he can go close. He did things wrong back on debut in November prior to a first-up fourth in a stronger maiden last week. OUT YONDA (6) is a Tintin In America gelding for Malcolm Retallick that has trialled well and beat IMA FIT TREASURE (4) in his most recent hit-out. IMA FIT TRASURE (4) had no luck on debut last week whilst JOLEANER (12) is interesting. BRING MY BLING (11), MUSTANG DAISY (5), DIAMOND KRUSHER (9), LILBITAJAYTEE (8) and OUR BIG DRAMAQUEEN (10) all come out of that chaos filled Mickey Mouse race last week.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (Leader?), 2? 4, 6

SELECTIONS: THEBUCKSONYOU (7), OUT YONDA (6), IMA FIT TREASURE (4), JOLEANER (12)

RATINGS: 7 / 6 / 4 / 12 / 11 / 5 / 9 / 8 / 10 / 1 / 3 / 2

SUGGESTED BET: OUT YONDA (6) Each-Way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: LE SPARTACUS (3) is probably the most interesting runner of the entire day as he has been building up to a win and is now prepared by Boris Devcic following the victory of Midnight Pirate last week when first-up for the same stable. He is raced by the same connections as Midnight Pirate so another win could be on the cards. FOXY TWO GLOVES (11) did very well in her first campaign and resumed with a most impressive victory clocking a good time over the course and distance but now drops back to the second row. FRANKNTANK (4), EYE SEE PHILTRA (5) and HEART OF COOPER (10) all rate highly.

EARLY SPEED: 1? 2? 3? 5, 6 (Eventual Leader?)

SELECTIONS: LE SPARTACUS (3), FOXY TWO GLOVES (11), FRANKNTANK (4), EYE SEE PHILTRA (5)

RATINGS: 3 / 11 / 4 / 5 / 10 / 6 / 7 / 1 / 8 / 2 / 12 / 9

SUGGESTED BET: LE SPARTACUS (3) Each-Way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: NOBLE TRICK (9) was very impressive in his first two runs for Boris Devcic before rising massively in grade last week to take on the fast class performers and was not disgraced to finish fourth after doing plenty of work. His first two runs and wins for the stable were in similar rating races so he looks very well placed. Just the same TOUGH AINT ENOUGH (6) is very talented himself and continues to get better and better as proven by his performance last week. However, he has over 20 metres to find with NOBLE TRICK (9) from February 26. OZZIE DAYBREAK (1) and LETSGO BIG GIRL (5) rate next.

EARLY SPEED: 3? 4 (Leader), 5?

SELECTIONS: NOBLE TRICK (9), TOUGH AINT ENOUGH (6), OZZIE DAYBREAK (1), LETSGO BIG GIRL (5)

RATINGS: 9 / 6 / 1 / 5 / 4 / 12 / 2 / 10 / 11 / 7 / 3 / 8

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE DAYBREAK (1) to Place

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: POWEROFPERSUASION (8) looks a great local chance in the Mildura Cup come the first week of April and it is very hard to see how he can be beaten on his current form. He was sensational at the end of last campaign and has somehow resumed in even better form with two scintillating come from behind victories. He was only one second outside of the track record last week and it will be a shock to see him lose. JAXON BEACH (11) if he is ready to roll first-up is the only possible danger if there is to be one. CAULONIA TERROR (7) and GO AWAY AGAIN (2) rate next.

EARLY SPEED: 1, 2 (Likely Leader), 4? 5, 6

SELECTIONS: POWERSOFPERSUASION (8), JAXON BEACH (11), CAULONIA TERROR (7), GO AWAY AGAIN (2)

RATINGS: 8 / 11 / 7 / 2 / 1 / 9 / 10 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 3

SUGGESTED BET: CAULONIA TERROR (7) to Place
