Race 1

HOWSWEETTHESOUND (3) got the perfect sit behind a hot tempo last start and ran away for an easy win. Looks to get a nice spot on speed here and should have every chance again. TALK IS CHEAP (5) has had to go back from wide gates of late, however think they’ll roll the dice here early and have a crack for the lead, with those inside not known for their good gate speed, bar the (3). HARBOUR SPRINGS (1) gets the pole draw and gets her chance to run an improved race, whilst NIKITA JO (4) has been consistent this preparation and will be looking to slot in early. JILLIBY JAY SEA (6), TWILIGHT BEACH (7) and SMOOTH DEAL (10) look the other winning hopes but will be relying on good speed on to be able to get into the finish.

Race 2

IMPERIAL LAZ (8) gets into this race exceptionally well with the driver claim, and whilst inside back row doesn’t look great on paper, I think DENNY (1) can hold the front if they so desire. He returns from racing in 8 successive stand starts and gets his chance here from the pole draw. DAT LOU (2) has good gate speed but has been somewhat disappointing of late and may see him driven more conservatively this time from the good draw. IAMAHUNTER (5) has won 3 of his last 4 and would be suited if there was some speed on here, as would ROCKS ROY (6) who struggles to win, but is always flying home late. Wouldn’t shock to see anything else in race pop up to win with a nice run in transit, in what is a very even contest.

Race 3

Was hard not to see the run of OH NO NEVER AGAIN (6) last start, when he galloped on the first corner and lost a considerable amount of ground, before only getting beat 4.7m. In saying that, he doesn’t win often so its hard to be too keen, especially from the wide awkward draw. STEPUPNDANCE (1) has good gate speed to settle handy from the pole draw, whilst GUENEVERES MADONNA (4) and JAY MILLER (7) have both had a stable change and can run the gate fast when asked. GYPSY AMOUR (10) drops back in grade slightly and will be hoping for some speed up front, as will DEBT TILL WE PART (12) who is always running home well.

Race 4

It’s the first heat of the upcoming Tasmania Cup, where TRIEDTOTELLYA (1) will be flying the flag for his home state and comes up with the pole draw, so expect him to lead all the way here and be almighty hard to beat. DALTON SHARD (7) couldn’t have been more impressive in the Devonport cup last start but draws the outside front row. Think they may restrain here, and hoping he is finishing off well to qualify for the final. MAGICIAN (8) gets his chance to return to form following the favourite out, if he can kick through and hold his back, which KEAYANG FITZY (2) will be eyeing off early, who continues to race consistently in feature races. Expect STAR MAJOR (5) to roll forward from the gate to a forward position and possibly look for cover from CELEBRITY ROYAL (9) who has been very good of late, and would expect him to be somewhat peaking at his 4th run back from a 2 year absence from the track. Many other classy performers who could run into the top 4 with some luck in running.

Race 5

LOUGLE (10) has been very good in his 2 starts in the state, including winning comfortably in very fast time last start, and would expect him to continue his winning ways here. SWEET DIXIE (9) is a super consistent mare who gets the nice trailing draw to again run into the placings, whilst I have OUR WILLOW (3) finding the front early, and will be suited by the mile distance, and could run a cheeky race at value. The draws make it an even bunch after that, where SPORTZSILK (11) and HEY FRANCO (12) will be following the favourites every move the last lap and have been racing well of late, whilst EVERYTHING BUT THE (7) will be relying on some good tempo up front to be able to run into the placings.

Race 6                     

An even race, and front row over the mile, where MY BAD (1) has sufficient gate speed to hold up. She never got clear last start when back in field and held on well for 4th the start prior when did work early in a strongly run race. SHALLOW BEACH (7) has been going well and might see him roll forward from the wide gate, where he was too good in fast time doing similar a few starts back. GOBSMACKED (8) finally gets a nice draw in a small field which should suit better than the big fields from outside back row draws he often cops. AURORAS REASON (5) is the likely improver, whilst anything in the race could be winning with luck in running.

Race 7

Very hard speed map with no obvious leader, but ALWAYS AURORA (1) will have options from the draw. He’s been in the money of late when has had a good run, and looks to get his chance here. SETTEBELLO (4) drops slightly in class and may see him lightened up early and attempt to find the front, where he has been hard to catch when leading at the country circuits over summer, albeit from the stand start. JEREMY WELLS (3) is a super consistent type and will no doubt again run into the placings, whilst CAN FEEL THE FURY (2) is going better than his figure form suggests and will be suited back to the mobile start after a poor beginning last start. As mentioned, a couple times already for this meet, wouldn’t shock to see anything come out on top, with the winner the one most likely to get the best run in transit.
