Mildura, Friday 19 September

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (3) is a very talented 3yo pacer, which won three races in succession prior to a fifth behind Forty Love in a Metropolitan event at Melton, where he had no clear run. He is meeting a handy field but he should prove hard to beat on his current form. AVOCA BLUES (1) is a fast beginner and is racing in peak form. He overcame a tough run when a big winner at Mildura two starts ago then worked very hard to lead early and kicked on well for third behind Lou Will. He will take catching from his ideal draw. WATCH THE ATTITUDE (8) finished off well for second in a sizzling mile rate of 1.54.8 on August 22 and his last performance was in an open class event so he has claims. IM BLINGIN IT (5) and EYE SEE PHILTRA (7) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 5,6

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (3), AVOCA BLUES (1), WATCH THE ATTITUDE (8), IM BLINGIN IT (5)

RATINGS: 3/ 1/ 5,7,8/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (3) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: VINCE LOMBARDI (8) was headed off at the start, moved up without cover shortly afterwards and battled on well for third last outing. He is yet to win ten starts for the season but this is clearly his easiest assignment and he gets his chance to break through. MISTER BOOMBASTIK (9) began quickly to find the lead and scored comfortably at Mildura on August 29. He has been unplaced at his past two attempts but he broke stride at the 700m and had excuses last week. This race is more suitable and he is worth another chance. BEAUTY ABOVE (7) endured a tough run and peaked late when ninth at Mildura last week. She finished off well from a rearward position when third to Cheers Poverty three starts ago and is not without a chance. BETTOR DOO (2) and CORNELIA (6) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: VINCE LOMBARDI (8), MISTER BOOMBASTIK (9), BEAUTY ABOVE (7), BETTOR DOO (2)

RATINGS: 8/ 7,9/ 2/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: VINCE LOMBARDI (8) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: POWERSOFPERSUASION (9) should be reaching his peak form after having two starts back from a spell and he put in a very good performance when third behind Maxy Wants To Play last week. He won four races in succession towards the end of his last preparation and he has the class to test this field. OZZIE PUNTA (6) settled last on the outside, came out three horses wide at the bell and battled on strongly for fourth behind Martyr at Mildura last week. He is a strong campaigner and should be very competitive again. LETSROCKLETSROLL (4) has been racing at Metropolitan level and is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward so he must be respected. RIO ROCK (5), CEMETERY BAY (7) and KEAYANG MOROCCAN (8) are all capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,5

SELECTIONS: POWERSOFPERSUASION (9), OZZIE PUNTA (6), LETSROCKLETSROLL (4), CEMETERY BAY (7)

RATINGS: 6,9/ 4/ 5,7/ 8

SUGGESTED BET: POWERSOFPERSUASION (9) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: OZZIE PEARL (2) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off nicely for fourth at Bendigo last outing. She was placed in the Youthful Stakes prior and appears to be well placed against this line up. RUGGARDS GEE TEE (1) worked forward to find the front and peaked late when fifth at Bendigo last outing. He was spelled after that performance and has since joined trainer Alex Ashwood. He is perfectly drawn and a bold showing is expected. SHES MAGICAL (4) enjoyed a nice trail and appeared to have her chance when second behind Sloanie Bel last week. She has been placed at her past four starts against similar opposition and is a place chance again. DESTINY KEPT (7) and MY BELLA (8) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: OZZIE PEARL (2), RUGGARDS GEE TEE (1), SHES MAGICAL (4), MY BELLA (8)

RATINGS: 2/ 1/ 4,8/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE PEARL (2) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: ABERCROMBIE LIMBO (1) was heavily supported at her Mildura debut and attempted to lead throughout when a handy second in the heat won by Camnat last week. She is drawn to lead again so she is capable of going one better. ROBERT CROCKA (7) is perfectly drawn to trail behind the likely leader and he is a short course specialist so he rates as a value hope. IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (6) performed below expectations at Mildura last week but her form in Tasmania was sound so she is worth another chance. GLENLEA HANOVER (8) gained the perfect trip when she won her heat last week. She has the perfect trailing draw and is worth thought again. KEAYANG CRIPPA (10) is racing consistently and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,5,6

SELECTIONS: ABERCROMBIE LIMBO (1), ROBERT CROCKA (7), IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (6), GLENLEA HANOVER (8)

RATINGS: 1/ 6,7/ 8/ 9/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: ABERCROMBIE LIMBO (1) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: HESASTAR (4) endured a torrid trip and had excuses when seventh last week. This is his easiest assignment for some time and he should be prominent throughout. PUNTO CALIENTE (8) was slow to begin and settled at the tail of the field when unplaced behind Night Spirit at Mildura last outing. He finished off strongly to win nicely at Mildura prior and he has won six races for the season so he is worth another chance. GLITZY ALL OVER (11) won three races in succession prior to a handy third behind She’s Poppy last week. She is racing in peak form and is one of the leading chances again. EGBERT (10) is shooting for three straight victories and is worth thought but he does tend to perform best when he is close to the lead so being drawn on the second line is a disadvantage.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 4

SELECTIONS: HESASTAR (4), PUNTO CALIENTE (8), GLITZY ALL OVER (11), EGBERT (10)

RATINGS: 4/ 8,11/ 1,10/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: HESASTAR (4) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: AMERICAN BOXER (3) settled in the second half of the field and finished off fast when an eye-catching second behind ILLUSTRIOUS (6) in his heat. He is much better drawn for this assignment and he led throughout to score at Mildura three starts ago so he should prove hard to beat again. ILLUSTRIOUS (6) began quickly and raced without cover throughout when a strong winner of his heat so he should be very competitive again. FEEL THE REIGN (9) attempted to lead throughout when third in his heat last week. Most of his best efforts have been when he has cover and his overall form is consistent so he is worth a ticket each way. I OF THE HURRIKANE (1) is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern and ULTIMATE ROCKER (2) has the early speed to be prominent throughout.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,6

SELECTIONS: AMERICAN BOXER (3), ILLUSTRIOUS (6), FEEL THE REIGN (9), I OF THE HURRIKANE (1)

RATINGS: 3,6/ 9/ 1,2/ 7/ 8,11

SUGGESTED BET: AMERICAN BOXER (3) each way
