Mildura, Friday 16 May

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: The three unraced juveniles HILLTOP BLOSSOM (3), LUVN MARY (4) and SHEMEANSBUSINESS (5) all boast handy trial form and might be able to dominate the older Maiden horses here. SHEMEANSBUSINESS (5) has been placed in all of her three trials at Bendigo and has been very impressive. She posted a slick mile rate of 1.58.7 at a recent trial win so she must be considered as a winning chance. HILLTOP BLOSSOM (3) remains undefeated from two trial events at Gawler and scored by a big margin at her latest success. She obviously has ability and must be respected. LUVN MARY (4) was placed in fast time at her latest trial effort and should be prominent throughout. TRYAGAINFREDDY (9) was very unlucky at Ouyen last week after being checked on the first turn and recovering to finish fourth. He was runner up in three of his previous four starts and is worth an investment.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 5

SELECTIONS: SHEMEANSBUSINESS (5), HILLTOP BLOSSOM (3), LUVN MARY (4), TRYAGAINFREDDY (9)

RATINGS: 3,5/ 4/ 9/ 6,10

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 3,5/ 3,4,5,9/ 3,4,5,9 (Cost $12)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: BELLA ABBY (7) is awkwardly drawn but has been runner up in four of her past five starts and is ready to break through for a win. She left a trailing position to move up without cover at the 1100m and hit the front at the 500m when a game second at Ouyen last week. ROBERT CROCKA (4) is a brilliant beginner and is a good chance of finding the lead in the early stages. He does perform best over the sprint distance but he strikes a suitable field and is not without a chance. KARDESLER (9) attempted to lead throughout when a close second behind Shireen at Mildura two starts ago then struck trouble approaching the home turn at Ouyen. He is awkwardly drawn but should go well against this class. DARK SANDS (8) performs best when he is able to lead but he is capable of showing up without surprising. COURTNEY KATARINA (10) and LILBITAHENRYTEE (11) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely early leader), 5

SELECTIONS: BELLA ABBY (7), ROBERT CROCKA (4), KARDESLER (9), DARK SANDS (8)

RATINGS: 7/ 4,9/ 8/ 10,11

SUGGESTED BET: BELLA ABBY (7) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: CAVALRY (8) has been placed at his past four starts and is ready to break through for a win. He sustained a long run when a brave second behind Sunshine Warrior two starts ago then followed with a second behind the in-form pacer To The Nines. CHALKNCHEDDAR (6) finished off strongly from a rearward position when he got up to win at Ouyen last outing. He has returned to his peak form over the past few weeks and looms as one of the leading chances again. ORAMA (3) is a fast beginner and races best when she is able to lead. She has drawn on the second line at her past two attempts so she is worth another chance under these conditions. GLITZY ALL OVER (5) was a winner at Mildura three starts ago and has claims along with LORD VERDE (9) and SNEAKY PHILTRA (11).

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: CAVALRY (8), CHALKNCHEDDAR (6), ORAMA (3), GLITZY ALL OVER (5)

RATINGS:8/ 6/ 3,5/ 9,11

SUGGESTED BET: CAVALRY (8) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: MARIAHS SHADOW (10) continues to race consistently and looms as one of the leading chances. She raced out three horses wide for over a lap when a brave second behind Hesastar at Mildura last outing and was a strong winner over Cavalry prior. SUNSHINE WARRIOR (5) has returned to his peak form with a win at Mildura followed by a second behind APOLOGY ACCEPTED (2). He should progress forward at the start and will be competitive again. APOLOGY ACCEPTED (2) produced his best effort for some time when he scored at Mildura last outing. This is a race of similar standard so he is worth thought again. RED HOT MIKI (1) will appreciate his best draw for some time and he also drops back in class from his past two unplaced efforts so he must be included amongst the leading chances.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: MARIAHS SHADOW (10), SUNSHINE WARRIOR (5), APOLOGY ACCEPTED (2), RED HOT MIKI (1)

RATINGS: 10/ 2,5/ 1/ 4,11/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: MARIAHS SHADOW (10) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: TO THE NINES (10) is racing in peak form and is tough enough to overcome the poor draw. He was heavily supported and worked very hard to get up without cover when he scored comfortably at Mildura two starts ago then he endured a wide trip when a brave second in his heat of this series. OUR MASTER PLAY (11) sustained a long run in the last lap when a big winner of his heat of this series. He appears to be well placed against this line up and should prove hard to beat again. NO EMOTION (7) was a runaway winner at Charlton two starts ago then endured a tough trip and went down fighting when a brave second in his heat. He couldn’t have drawn worse but he is a winning chance if he gains the right luck in running. PUNTO CALIENTE (2) did well to finish third after making an early error at Ouyen and rates as a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1,2,3

SELECTIONS: TO THE NINES (10), OUR MASTER PLAY (11), NO EMOTION (7), PUNTO CALIENTE (2)

RATINGS: 10,11/ 7/ 2/ 5/ 1,4

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 10,11/ 1,7,10,11/ 1,2,4,5,7,10,11 (Cost $30)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: HILLTOP CRUSADER (4) is a handy South Australian pacer, which was resuming since August when he outstayed his rivals at Globe Derby. He should be fitter from his latest performance and will prove hard to beat. HESASTAR (2) raced without cover throughout and produced a big performance to win at Mildura last outing. He is drawn to be close to the speed again and should run a big race. BRUISED EGO (11) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and is capable of improving on his numerical form. TWO IN THE BIN (1) is a place chance from the inside draw and DANNY RAY (7) will also receive a nice run on the markers.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,3,4

SELECTIONS: HILLTOP CRUSADER (4), HESASTAR (2), BRUISED EGO (11), TWO IN THE BIN (1)

RATINGS: 2,4/ 11/ 1,3,7

SUGGESTED BET: HILLTOP CRUSADER (4) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: LUVN OSMAN (8) recorded a mile rate of 1.56.2 when he defeated Dieing Fear (won since) at Bendigo then followed with a fourth at Wagga, where he had little luck. He should prove hard to beat under these conditions. VINNY ROCK (7) is awkwardly drawn on the inside of the second line but he will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and recorded fast time at a Stawell victory in January so he must be considered. OH SWEET CREATURE (9) hasn’t finished further back than fourth at his past seven starts and he finished off well for third behind Foxy Two Gloves (won again since) last outing. He is worth a ticket each way. CLARENDEN CRUISER (1) is a South Australian pacer, which won at Globe Derby three starts ago and has claims along with SHES POPPY (6), which won a trial at Mildura last week.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,3

SELECTIONS: LUVN OSMAN (8), VINNY ROCK (7), OH SWEET CREATURE (9), CLARENDEN CRUISER (1)

RATINGS: 8/ 7,9/ 1/ 6/ 4,10

SUGGESTED BET: LUVN OSMAN (8) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: FOXY TWO GLOVES (12) is shooting for three wins in succession and produced a big finish to win her heat at Ouyen on Sunday. She was very impressive last time out and should prove hard to beat again. ALFNALMA (11) possesses a powerful finishing burst as evidenced by her heat win on Sunday. Most of her recent performances have been against stronger opposition and she will be suited if there is a genuine tempo throughout. MIDNIGHT PIRATE (4) raced without cover throughout and pressured the leader HURRIKANE DUSTY (1) when a brave second in his heat. He has had four wins and three seconds from his past seven starts and is sure to make his presence felt. CHOGI (7) used plenty of energy at the start before taking a trail when second in her heat. She won at Bendigo prior and is perfectly drawn behind a fast beginner so she cannot be underestimated.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: FOXY TWO GLOVES (12), ALFNALMA (11), MIDNIGHT PIRATE (4), CHOGI (7)

RATINGS: 12/ 4,11/ 7/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: Boxed Trifecta 4,7,11,12 (Cost $24)

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: MACHETE ROULETTE (1) is a very consistent South Australian trained filly, which finished third in the St Leger at Globe Derby on Saturday night. She is ideally drawn and should give a bold showing. LETSGO BIG GIRL (4) settled at the tail of the field and came out very wide on the home turn when a fast finishing sixth at Mildura last outing. She ran a big race last time and is worth an investment. OZZIE DAYBREAK (10) continues to perform honestly with two victories followed by a fifth at Ouyen after he raced without cover throughout. He is versatile and should go well again. GOOD BOOTS BINDI (5) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is worth thought along with EYE SEE PHILTRA (9) and CAULONIA TERROR (11).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: MACHETE ROULETTE (1), LETSGO BIG GIRL (4), OZZIE DAYBREAK (10), CAULONIA TERROR (11)

RATINGS: 1/ 4,10/ 5,9,11

SUGGESTED BET: MACHETE ROULETTE (1) each way
