Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: I OF THE HURRIKANE (1) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward so she is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern. She finished off best to win under similar conditions at Bendigo two starts ago. IM ALL BUSINESS (4) was driven aggressively mid-race and battled on strongly for second behind Leonard at Maryborough last outing. He moves to the front line now and is capable of going one better. ISOLATION (11) was heavily supported at Cranbourne on Sunday and was able to lead throughout in a slick mile rate of 1.54.6. He drops back to the second line now but is worth thought again. WILLIAMS (12) is resuming since a ninth at Penrith in December. He performed okay at a recent Bendigo trial fourth and he has won three of his five starts to date so he cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4,6,7
SELECTIONS: I OF THE HURRIKANE (1), IM ALL BUSINESS (4), ISOLATION (11), WILLIAMS (12)
RATINGS: 1/ 4,11/ 12/ 3,5,9
SUGGESTED BET: I OF THE HURRIKANE (1) each way
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: It is a very open race with many winning chances. DOT BALL (3) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and is nicely drawn so she can improve on her numerical form. ARCHAA (6) is resuming since being unplaced behind Odin in a much harder race at Melton on March 14. He hasn’t been to the trials but he strikes a suitable assignment first up so he cannot be left out of calculations. WHERES WOOD WOOD (13) endured a tough run when second at Cobram two starts ago then followed with a win at Shepparton, where she sustained a strong run. She is poorly drawn but is capable of winning again. The stable mates MYNAMEISRUBY (5) and NOBLE JULIA (7) both possess early speed and went well enough last week to be worth thought.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 4,5,7
SELECTIONS: DOT BALL (3), ARCHAA (6), WHERES WOOD WOOD (13), MYNAMEISRUBY (5)
RATINGS: 3,6/ 13/ 5,7/ 8,11,12/ FIELD
SUGGESTED BET: DOT BALL (3) each way
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: CRAFTY OLD FOX (7) performs best when he can lead out then take cover and it is a slow front line so there is a good chance he can get across to the markers despite the extreme draw. He has been placed in two of his past three starts against similar opposition and gets his chance to break through for a win here. ICANMOTOR (8) trailed the leader and was held up for a run at a vital stage when third behind Allheartnoheight at Melton last week. He worked home quite well for second behind Payup Or Leave prior and he should be competitive again. JOEYS HANGOVER (11) appeared to have his chance to win when second at Melton last week but he has been runner up in both of his starts since resuming and this race is no harder. SPECULATOR (1) gets his chance to improve from the pole position and TIME AFTER TIME (10) is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 1,4,5
SELECTIONS: CRAFTY OLD FOX (7), ICANMOTOR (8), JOEYS HANGOVER (11), SPECULATOR (1)
RATINGS: 7,8/ 11/ 1,10/ FIELD
SUGGESTED BET: CRAFTY OLD FOX (7) each way
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: KRAKEY (11) is still learning but he has a lot of ability and is ready to break through for a win. He left a trailing position to move up without cover when a game second behind Dieing Fear at Shepparton last outing. SANDSTING (4) had excuses at Bendigo last time out and is worth another chance. He was runner up twice in succession prior to his latest performance and he has won a trial at Kilmore since. MY ULTIMATE LUIGI (5) is a first starter for trainer Chris Svanosio, which has performed consistently in three recent trial efforts with the latest being a third at Melton last week. He obviously has ability and is not without a chance. ALL THINGS SPICY (1) was runner up behind the smart juvenile Sols Me Name on debut and WICKED WIZARD (9) was heavily supported first up at Albury but ruined his chances with a poor getaway.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2
SELECTIONS: KRAKEY (11), SANDSTING (4), MY ULTIMATE LUIGI (5), ALL THINGS SPICY (1)
RATINGS: 11/ 4,5/ 1,9/ 7
SUGGESTED BET: KRAKEY (11) each way
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: KIMBERLEYS TREE (9) hasn’t finished further back than fourth at her five starts to date and her past two placed efforts have been behind the smart filly Miss Ohana so she appears to be very hard to beat against this line up. MONTANA CHEVELLE (7) did an extremely good job to come from last to get the prize at Bendigo last week. She does have very good gate speed but she showed last week she is no one trick pony and is worth thought again. LITTLE TEDEY (4) was runner up twice in succession prior to striking bother and losing his chance at Maryborough. He is usually competitive against this class and is worth an investment. MAORI TATTOO (8) has been freshened since making an error and finishing ninth behind Tracy The Jet at Melton. He has ability and finished second at a Kilmore trial appearance last week so he is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,7
SELECTIONS: KIMBERLEYS TREE (9), MONTANA CHEVELLE (7), LITTLE TEDEY (4), MAORI TATTOO (8)
RATINGS: 9/ 4,7/ 8/ 1,5,6
SUGGESTED BET: KIMBERLEYS TREE (9) to win
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: RINGER WELLS (4) began quickly and was without cover early before gaining a trail but he broke stride at the 600m mark and lost his chance ($2-25 fav) at Geelong last outing. He defeated a stronger field at Bendigo three starts ago and should prove hard to beat again if he delivers a fool proof display. FLOATING MOUNTAIN (1) performed very well at the trials prior to a second behind Beautiful Sunrise at Melton last week, where he tried to sustain a long run from the 600m. He is ideally drawn for this assignment and should be competitive again. TE AMO (3) is resuming but he was competing against better opposition when he was last in work and he will be fitter after two recent trial efforts, which have yielded a win and a fourth. MANDA KYVALLEY (6) possesses early speed and is building up a consistent record. She endured a tough run when fourth behind Sista Evarista at Bendigo last outing and was a winner at Maryborough in February.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,6
SELECTIONS: RINGER WELLS (4), FLOATING MOUNTAIN (1), TE AMO (3), MANDA KYVALLEY (6)
RATINGS: 4/ 1/ 3,6,9/ 5,8
SUGGESTED BET: FLOATING MOUNTAIN (1) each way
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (8) galloped away from behind the tapes last outing but he boasts a very consistent standing start record and scored after starting from the handicap of 20m at Echuca starts ago. He is a versatile trotter and is worth an investment. JOHNS BOY (9) won at his first three Australian attempts prior to a second in the Mount Gambier Cup. He hasn’t performed up to expectations at his past two attempts but he was able to build some confidence with a trial victory at Kilmore on Thursday. He usually steps away fast and is capable of being competitive despite commencing from the handicap of 20m. WINNIES DREAM (6) is making her standing start debut but she met a very strong field at Geelong last time out and she won at her four attempts prior so she is not to be underestimated. CONSTANT (4) hit the line strongly at her latest third and rates as a value hope.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 9 (20m)
SELECTIONS: CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (8), JOHNS BOY (9), WINNIES DREAM (6), CONSTANT (4)
RATINGS: 8/ 6,9/ 4/ 1,5/ 2,7
SUGGESTED BET: CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (8) to win
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: COL DU GRANON (6) possesses early speed and appears to be well graded in this event so he gets his chance to break through for a win. He was narrowly beaten in a race of similar standard at Maryborough on April 14. MAJOR MAX (7) is the class runner of the field but he has been making errors both at the races and the trials recently so his manners will be the key to the result. MASSIF CENTRAL (3) appeared to have his chance to finish closer when fifth at Melton last week but he was runner up behind Against The Bridle prior and he possesses early speed so he is not without a chance. AZALEA MAE (5) ran a better race last time and has claims along with GUNNY TEE (8).
EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 1,6
SELECTIONS: COL DU GRANON (6), MAJOR MAX (7), MASSIF CENTRAL (3), GUNNY TEE (8)
RATINGS: 6/ 3,7/ 8/ 5
SUGGESTED BET: COL DU GRANON (6) each way
