HRA amends Group Racing Guidelines

Harness Racing Australia has advised of upcoming amendments to the Group Racing Guidelines.

With varying calendars used to program feature races across each state, with some operating on a calendar year and others operating on a financial year, HRA has been unable to compile a consistent feature calendar.

The amendments to the Group Racing Guidelines* will require each state to submit their planned feature races for the next calendar year so it can be published by October each year.

Additionally, a minimum prizemoney threshold of $25,000 has been added for Listed races, whilst sales-based races or pay-up races will now require prizemoney levels of $75,000 for pacers and $40,000 for trotters to be eligible for Listed status.

It is worth highlighting that minimum prizemoney levels for Group Racing consideration have not changed. They are:

  • Group 1 - $150,000 for pacers and $60,000 for trotters;

  • Group 2 - $75,000 for pacers and $40,000 for trotters; and

  • Group 3 - $50,000 for pacers and $30,000 for trotters.

*The annual feature race calendar remains subject to change throughout the year.
