CHAMPION stayer Swayzee won’t chase another Group 1 Blacks A Fake win in Brisbane next month.

An interrupted preparation has already cost the rising eight-year-old running defending his Victoria and NZ Cup crowns in recent weeks.

Owner Mick Boots said Swayzee was progressing well, but the focus had switched to the Victoria’s Summer of Glory and the bonuses attached to the Cups’ series, culminating with the $250,000 Group 1 Hunter Cup.

The first leg of the six-race series is the Bendigo Cup on January 10.

Swayzee, who boasts 30 wins from 69 starts and almost $2.25 million, hasn’t started since finishing second to Kingman at Menangle on October 4.

Kingman then went on to win the Victoria Cup/NZ Cup double.
