Australian Pacing Gold’s Autumn Mix Online Sale kicks off on Friday, May 23 with two mares on offer who are closely related to Group 1 winners and Horse of the Year Award winners.

The Shooting Star NZ, catalogued as Lot 43, by Rock N Roll Heaven, is a winning half-sister to the four-time Group 1 winner and NZ 4YO Horse of the Year Tintin In America ($934,305), now a highly successful colonial bred sire.

She is also a half-sister to the exported Destination Moon ($229,075), the Breeders Crown heat winner Zenstar and the Grinfromeartoear mare The Blue Lotus, dam of the NSW Breeders Challenge Blue 2YO winner Soho Darknstormy and the NZ Sales Classic runner-up Amazon Lily.

The Shooting Star NZ is out of the In The Pocket mare Zenterfold (1:56.6), whose dam, Zenola Star, is the dam of eight foals to race, five winners – all inside 2:00 - and four $100,000 earners. They include the exported My Ruebe Star ($211,839), the New Brighton Cup winner Zenad ($201,839), Zensational ($138,808) and the NZ country cups winner Zenola Seelster ($102,706).

This is the family of the Inter Dominion champion and Hunter Cup winner Elsu, the Miracle Mile hero Catch A Wave, the Oaks winners De Lovely and Copper Beach, Motoring Magic (NZ 2YO of the Year), Revonez and so on.

Consigned by Wingate Farm, she carries a positive test to the Australian 2YO Colt of the Year Be Happy Mach.

Lot 75, the Bettor’s Delight mare Bella Shine (1:55.8), a winner of eight races, is a member of the same family that produced the four-time Group 1 winner and thrice Mare of the Year Make Mine Cullen ($874,178).

Bella Shine is a half-sister to no less than nine sub 2:00 performers headed up by the NZ 2YO Filly of the Year and NSW Breeders Challenge 3YO Final winner Supersonic Miss ($373,722), the NSW Breeders Challenge victor Goodtime Heaven ($287,687), the country cups winner Jukebox Music ($334,301) and the Listed winner Roger’s Joy, dam of the exported Leonidas 1:48 ($1.4 million).

The grand-dam Intrude, the 2012 Broodmare of the Year, left 15 foals, 12 starters, eight winners with six in 2:00 and nine 2:00 producing daughters. Besides Make Mine Cullen and Bella Joy, Intrude was the dam of the Listed winners Roger’s Passion ($136,446) and Intrusive and the Menangle winner Billy Badlands ($122,805).

Intrude was also the second dam of the SA Pacing Cup winner Sicario ($590,446), the NSW Breeders Challenge winner Obahma Joy, the Group 2 winner Captain Hammerhead ($351,223), College Chapel (Bathurst Gold Crown) and Make Mine Memphis ($276,263).

Bella Shine herself is the dam of three winners from five foals including Shineonucrazydiamond (1:50), the winner of 33 races in NZ and America and $548,375, and the Melton and Albion Park victor Major Mucha ($156,655).

One of the consignment of the Johnson family’s Atworthy Park Group, Bella Shine is safely in foal to the brilliant, young sire Downbytheseaside.

Lot 7, a yearling colt by the USA 2YO Colt of the Year and North America Cup winner Captain Crunch, belongs to a family with deep roots in America.

The youngster is out of the NZ bred mare Westgate Chick (by Mach Three), who has left four foals of racing age for three winners including Lightning Jash, the winner of eight races to date highlighted by the Tasmanian Debutante Stakes.

Westgate Chick, a winner of two races in NZ, is a daughter of the grand Artsplace mare T A Sportsplex, who was imported from America by master Auckland horseman Frank Cooney.

She left 12 foals, nine starters and nine winners with five in 2:00 including the cups winner Cullen’s Legacy ($214,287), the NZ Listed winner Kobe Bryant ($143,698), the NZ Sales Graduate victor Matt Maguire and the NZ Sires Stakes heat winner Annie Maguire ($284,989), who in turn left the American winner Capozzo 1:48 ($648,226).

Captain Crunch has sired 34 individual winners and progeny earnings of over $900,000 from his first two Australian crops including the WA classic winners Captain Stirling, Sebastian James and Its Maa Time.

Consigned by successful Goulburn breeder Matt Day, the colt is eligible for the NSW Breeders Challenge.
