IN TYPICAL horseman fashion, Scott Ewen has combined a family holiday with racing.

Venturing home to South Australia to spend time with his clan during the festive season, Ewen made the journey earlier this week with three pacers in tow.

The trio are poised to compete at Globe Derby tomorrow, headed by stable star Bulletproof Boy in the Christmas Cup.

"We were going to Adelaide for Christmas, but I wanted to keep him in work, so he came with us," Ewen said. "Then I figured I may as well bring the other two for the ride as there are suitable races for them as well.

"He is low flying at the moment and I want to keep his fitness up for a race at Cranbourne on the 28th.

"Tomorrow's Cup is an ideal way of doing that."

To be driven by Ewen, Bulletproof Boy is a short-priced favourite despite drawing the inside of the second row.

Earlier on the card Ewen will be represented by Hes Olly, which will begin from barrier five over 1800 metres.

"He didn't have much luck last time around from a shocking draw when he was first-up from a break," Ewen said. "He's come through the run well and should prove hard to beat."

Blazin Heaven rounds out the crew from gate two over 2230 metres.

"He's a consistent type which doesn't know how to put in a bad run," Ewen said. "He is certainly a decent winning chance in this."
