SA Trots - SA Country Cups Trotters Final

REMOVAL of the hot favourite has thrown tomorrow night's Final "wide open".

Dominating the state's country cups in recent weeks, Regal Attire was an odds-on shot for the Port Pirie-based finale despite his 40-metre backmark.

Regal Attire has won five of his six starts this season, including the Fred Jones, Strathalbyn, Ladbrokes and Victor Harbor Cups.

Much to the dismay of "shattered" trainer Ryan Hryhorec, the trotter is battling a virus, forcing him out of the $20,000 feature.

As a result of the scratching, My Used To Be is considered the 'most likely' to benefit.

Boasting four wins and five seconds from his last 10 starts, My Used To Be's victories include the Gawler Cup on March 24.

Now the backmarker on 30 metres, the son of Used To Me has tightened in betting markets to $2.50 for co-trainers Jill Neilson and Katie Wilson.

"He couldn't be in any better condition going into a race," Neilson said. "We are very happy with him.

"His last four starts have been in cups for a win, two seconds and a third, with Regal Attire beating him on each occasion.

"Having him out of the race certainly makes it a wide open affair and with a bit of luck My Used To Be can be the one to take advantage of it.

"Coming off 30 metres makes it interesting, but the race is over 2530 metres, so he has plenty of time to make up the ground."
