The Shallows added the Ladbrokes Easter Cup to his impressive resume on Saturday night in Launceston for trainer Heath Woods and driver Brodie Davis.

The meeting also saw a host of $20,000 features.

A large crowd witnessed the dual code action in Hobart on Good Friday.

This week, harness racing will be held in Hobart on Friday and again in Launceston on Sunday night.

The Stars

The Shallows scored in the Easter Cup at odds of $51. The win was the pacers’ first in 15 months. The gelding was the first horse trainer Heath Woods, and his son Aaron purchased since Heath returned to the industry after stepping away for several years. For 17-year-old Davis, he became the youngest winning driver of the race.

Snowiewillrev – pulled out all stops late to lead all the way and score in the Keith Stanley Debutante, the first 2YO harness race in the state this season. The $40,000 purchase at last year’s Nutrien Melbourne Sale is prepared by Craig Hayes and was driven by Gareth Rattray.

Sportzsilk is another that had to dig deep late to score in the state’s richest maiden race, the Allen Williams Memorial. It was the middle leg of a weekend treble for both trainer Adrian Duggan and driver Ricky Duggan.

Just Tiger and Indelible both started as short-priced favourites to win their respective $20,000 Tasbred Finals for horses with two or fewer lifetime wins.
