New Inquiries

  • 5 March 2024 – Mr Clayton Harmey – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Levamisole was detected in the post-race urine sample taken from GANDALF NZ following its win in Race 3, the NEW ERA TECHNOLOGY PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Newcastle on Friday 5 January 2024.

The reserve portion and control solution have been confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.

 

Appeal Decisions

  • 1 March 2024 - Mr Tom Ison appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driver’s licence for a period of 28 days after he pleaded guilty to a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 149(2) when driving the horse SEAMARK in Race 4 at Tamworth on Thursday 4 January 2024.

By decision of the NSW Harness Racing Appeal Panel the appeal was dismissed and the suspension of 28 days was confirmed.

  • 5 March 2024 - Mr Andrew Bourke appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driver’s licence for a period of 28 days after he pleaded guilty to a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 149(2) when driving the horse THE CREEK in Race 7 at Newcastle on Friday 3 November 2023.

By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was upheld and the charge was dismissed.

  • 12 March 2024 - Mr Jack Callaghan appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driver’s licence for a period of 7 days after he was found guilty of a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(d) when driving the horse STELLAS DELIGHT in Race 2 at Penrith on Thursday 8 February 2024.

By decision of the NSW Harness Racing Appeal Panel the appeal was upheld, the suspension was set aside and a reprimand imposed.

 

Integrity Information

  • During the month of March 2024, HRNSW Integrity department obtained 965 race day samples.

As per normal HRNSW procedure all samples have been submitted for analysis.
