Talented Bathurst pacer Ripp will face his first interstate challenge this Saturday night.

The Bernie Hewitt-trained pacer will race in the Group 3 Redcliffe Derby in Queensland.

The three-year-old trialled at Albion Park on Tuesday and won in a slick mile rate of 1:51.3.

Ripp has won six of his seven starts including the Group 1 Australian Pacing Gold Final and Bathurst Gold Chalice.

Hewitt has four horses nominated at the meeting including Make Mine Memphis in the Group 1 Redcliffe Gold Cup.

Despite campaigning a team interstate, Hewitt still has strong numbers at Bathurst tonight.

Hewitt has seven horses engaged at the meeting with the majority of his runners to be driven by his sons Jason and Doug Hewitt.
