A DECISION to send Jawsoflincoln across the border has delivered immediate results.

With the two-year-old struggling against strong company in Victoria, connections approached astute South Australian horseman Greg Scholefield to train Jawsoflincoln.

Making his debut for Scholefield at Globe Derby last night, Jawsoflincoln captured the time-honoured Lordship Stakes.

Thrilled with his latest stable addition, Scholefield has earmarked several key targets for the son of Art Major.

Beginning with the Golden Nursery heats in a fortnight, Scholefield will also take aim at the Southern Cross Series.

Should all go according to plan, Jawsoflincoln will tackle the $24,000 Golden Nursery Final on October 30.

Southern Cross heats are scheduled to begin on November 27.

“He’s been a nice pick up,” Scholefield said. “His work at home has been very sharp and I told Gaita (Pullicino, driver) he was ready to run a quick time.

“That was his first run in a month, and with the confidence he should take from the win, I expect him to improve again next time around.

“We’ve got the Golden Nursery heats next and I can’t see any reason why he won’t be better again for that.”

Beginning quickly to lead from barrier seven, Jawsoflincoln was never seriously challenged on his way to a commanding 13-metre win from Partyattheybeach.

Art Jester was four metres away third in 1:56.7 over 1800 metres.
