Sepia Sands, the first son of a champion racehorse and now a leading sire and sire of sires in Somebeachsomebeach imported to Queensland, is to stand alongside Cullen’s Creek at WW Racing Stables, of Wayne Waltisbuhl, Ellimbah.

Bred in North America, Sepia Sands qualified in 1:57.4 as a two-year-old and, following a brief campaign, was shipped to Ireland to further his racing career.

He won in good company in Ireland, Wales and Scotland, taking his lifetime mark of 1:58.2 on the half-mile grass track at Portmarnock Raceway, Dublin.

An upstanding bay horse of 16 hands, Sepia Sands possesses an outstanding temperament which is evident in his stock in Ireland.

His sire Somebeachsomewhere has left over 120 1:50 performers and needs no further introduction.

His dam, Sepia Hanover, was one of the many grand producing daughters of a champion sire in Big Towner (1:54.8), being out of Snooky Hanover (TT1:55.2), by Warm Breeze (sire of Flacon Seelster) from a noted producer in Skipper’s Dream (1:59.2).

Sepia Sands ranks as a half-brother to two in the 1:50 list including a top Stakes winner in Johnny Z 1:50 ($679,281).

Sepia Sands belongs to the maternal family which produced horses the calibre of Most Happy Fella (dual USA Sire of the Year), the Meadowlands Pace winner Escort, Riverboat King (Adios Stake and sire), Ellamony (USA 3YO Filly of the Year), the world champion racemare Loyal Opposition (1:48.8) and many others.

His pedigree includes four strains of Meadow Skipper blood, one through Cam Fella, the sire of Cam’s Card Shark, which in turn sired Bettor’s Delight.

Sepia Sands will stand for a $1,500 service fee with live foal guarantee.

For bookings and information phone Wayne Waltisbuhl on 0427 446 161.
