HUSBAND and wife duo Dean and Kerry McDowell will have their first starters today under their new official training partnership.

The McDowells have three starters engaged at Tabcorp Park Menangle to kick start their new season and those are New York Rain (Race 4), Bettors Pocket (Race 6) and Volando Denario (Race 7).

Dean and Kerry have worked alongside each other and have trained more than 370 winners between them.

Dean McDowell prepared 193 winners while Kerry McDowell trained 181 winners in her name.

Training partnerships became official in New South Wales in 2016 with Joe and Mary Rando becoming the first training partnership in the state, followed by Shane and Lauren Tritton.

With the latter now training in the United States, there are only 10 training partnerships in Australia to have had starters this season.

Champion horseman Anthony Butt and his partner Sonya Smith are also new to the partnership training ranks and have had three winners in their five starters.
